Drill hole through bathroom Vanity

Hey guys,

I want to install a built-in soap dispenser by drilling a hole into my bathroom vanity. I successfully did this with a diamond bit last year in my quartz counter top in my kitchen (see photos).

I don’t know what material my bathroom vanity sink is made of. The manufacturer has stated that I cannot drill any holes as it will crack but they never answered me on what material it is.

Can anyone tell by the photo what material this is and if its possible? Its an Orren Ellis from Wayfair.

Thanks

Likely porcelain or some other type of ceramic.

Diamond hole saw would still be the way to do this, but no idea if it would work without shattering your sink. The vendor will of course say you can't/shouldn't.

Given size of hole, location relative to change of plane, and no way to stabilize vibrations very well, I'd say it's pretty likely you would crack it, but only one way to find out.

Great observation regarding the vibrations. I didn’t think of that.

And I agree on the vendor comment. Sounds like a liability mitigation response which is why I decided to post here.

Guess it’s better to not find out and leave as is. Not worth the risk. Appreciate your response.
