The only way to eat a Chicago dog is all beef Vienna, mustard, sport, neon relish, diced white onion, tomato, then a kosher dill pickle, celery salt on top. You then grab a news paper. You then rip a page of said news paper. You then pistol grip the Chicago to push everything down using the news paper as a plate (or napkin) while you stand on the side of the side walk and then shove it in (you need the pickle in every bite) while people walk around you totally disregarding your existence.
I will stand by the fact that a dipped beef hot with a Maxwell is far superior combo though.
P.S I have no idea why I am here, but that is why Reddit exists.

California has great food but lacks classic Chicago blue collar grub like dogs, Italian beef, brats,…

As a Chicagoan, looks alright and I would eat it any day, but tomatoes are too thick, relish isn’t neon, no thank you to cucumbers pickle needed, and pepper isn’t sporty enough, too few. But dog, bun, celery salt, mustard and onions are all on point. But every hot dog is perfect just the way it is, I’m sure it tasted amazing!

I agree. I am a fellow Chicagoan myself but now live in Indiana, but this was from a local joint by the beach in Indiana so they didn’t do too bad and yes, it was amazing and I took off a few of the sport peppers they had on there because I like eating those by themselves
