You cannot age from now on. Cannot die. You also have access to a Time Machine.

With this hypothetical, you will stop aging from where you are right now. You will also never be able to die. You're basically immortal. Now instead of you watching everything you know die do you have a Time Machine you can go back in time to anytime and basically do You want cause you cannot die.

What are you doing with this?

Well guess it’s time for me to find random companions to travel around time and space with.

Turn it into a business. Charge the millionaires and billionaires top dollar for access to this power and then use that money to do good in the world.

I'm fucking up everything, saving Lincoln, JFK, 2pac, John Lennon, taking out Hitler when he's locked up. Knock up Cleopatra..... You know what I'm just going back to the dinosaur era and bringing back a few dinos and make my own Jurassic Park.

70

u/14_EricTheRed 1d ago

Prevent all of these major historical atrocities with a dinosaur. The titanic is a few miles away from an iceberg? Throw a dinosaur on the ship and cause mayhem to wake everyone up and have the, do something.

Lincoln’s gonna be assassinated? Drop a Dino in the theatre a few minutes before…

40

u/HakkyPrintsIn3D 1d ago

Dinos, uhh, find a way

12

u/UpYourAsteroid 1d ago

Chaos theory

8

u/Intelligent-Invite79 1d ago

See? see? No one could have predicted a dinosaur would appear and knock the concession stand over. THAT’S chaos theory.

2

u/Ionovarcis 1d ago

Country Dinos make do

5

u/Citizen44712A 1d ago

You may want to go back in time and hook up with Arnold for a couple of years first, dinos are heavy.

3

u/Fickle_Penguin 1d ago

I dropped a dino earlier today

First thing I’m doing is kidnapping Epstein and making him release the files.

RELEASE THE FILES

1

u/E8P3 19h ago

You have a time machine. Don't release the files. Prevent the crimes! Yes, the files could be a good political lever, but you have a time machine for that anyway. Save the kids.

Also, in this timeline, minutes the time machine, I agree. Release the files.

But we can dream bigger.

2

u/nico87ca 1d ago

You should look up the butterfly effect.

If you knock up Cleopatra, there's a non zero chance that Lincoln, 2pac, John Lennon and Hitler never even exist.

2

u/JerichoCana 1d ago

Didn’t see “knock up Cleopatra” coming. I guess after saving all those lives and taking out one of the most vile figures in history, you gotta do something for yourself.

I think I'm having an aneurysm trying to read this

87

u/Distinct-Radish3617 1d ago

Same ngl I don't understand what OP was saying

75

u/ATX_Giant84 1d ago

Apparently OP gave themselves an aneurysm typing it out, and forgot who they were

43

u/rainbow-songbird 1d ago

Op forgot to switch to the alt oops

39

u/mam88k 1d ago

Nope, that was future OP coming back to figure this shit out.

8

u/reallyOldWill 1d ago

Or past OP replying before they made the post.

6

u/thatshygirl06 1d ago

Nah, op was just goofing

5

u/QueenVogonBee 1d ago

That’s because they used a Time Machine

3

u/Epic-Gamer_09 1d ago

15

u/OrthogonalPotato 1d ago

I think OP was just making a joke. Relax

2

u/gc3 1d ago

If you go back to the same time a second time do you have to deal with the other you?

15

u/HeroinPigeon 1d ago

I would go back.. way back.. just to see what it was like early human.. then flash forward to some key moments in history live through all the wars and innovations.. meet key players like davinci. Learn all the things

Then when I'm bored and want to die.. go back in time and end past version of me before I accepted this fate.

If that doesn't work go back and stop branch of human evolution that lead me to being born (like stopping parents meeting or something)

12

u/usernamerandomness 1d ago

Eventually getting bored and wishing for death.

4

u/NewDestinyViewer2U 1d ago

With a time machine you can go back and make infinite changes. I dont see how you could get bored

2

u/tibetje2 1d ago

Yes, let me put 3 Rice grains on this square cm instead of 2. Truly infinite options that aren't boring at all. The interesting changes are finite.

2

u/NewDestinyViewer2U 1d ago

Yah, almost exactly like that. I'd be experimenting like crazy, how small of a change can I make 1000 years ago that changes everything? Can I build a perfect society with just small changes through history?

25

u/BumblebeeBorn 1d ago
  1. I do everything in human history, from every perspective.
  2. I do everything in every alternate history, from everyone's perspective.
  3. Since time machine implies FTL, I meet all the aliens, and do everything in their histories and alternate histories, from everyone's perspective.
  4. I visit a bunch of cool places, like black holes, the birth of stars and planets, the big bang, the heat death of the universe, etc.
  5. I get bored, and go back in time to prevent myself from being given true immortality, in favour of living as long as I want. I then end my existence.

23

u/SirLunatik 1d ago

Nothing, I decline.

3

u/QuanticWizard 1d ago

I don’t think the prompt was implying you had a choice. More like a “given you being in this state, what do you do”?

6

u/Golarion 1d ago

Well, at some point in the next trillion years, I'm definitely misplacing the time machine. Then back to the standard eternity in a black void, I guess.

4

u/HakkyPrintsIn3D 1d ago

I had time! Time enough at last!

Same. I do not want to be immortal. Besides the fact that living for a billion years would be terrible, what happens if the Earth explodes or something. Then you would be floating around in the void of space forever. No thank you.

22

u/ThermosphericRah 1d ago

You have a time machine

4

u/OyG5xOxGNK 1d ago

"machine" implies it can be broken or stolen.
infinity is a long time for that to happen

8

u/HakkyPrintsIn3D 1d ago

Travel to the far future and get the anti break add-on and the go go 1995 and get The Club. Maybe get The Club first.

2

u/Citizen44712A 1d ago

I truly will never understand this take. You’d have a billion years to mitigate the issue. There’s no scenario you can’t get interstellar in that time.

7

u/ZeroBrutus 1d ago

The point is eventually everything will die. You'll likely have gone mad long before that.

No matter how much time you enjoy beforehand - eternity awaits. And that assumes you aren't captured and imprisoned before that.

You mean all the fun things I want to do, I'll have to do as a middle aged man with bad knees, a bad back, likely early arthritis, and a seemingly endless string of mild ailments forever? No thank you.

5

u/nomad3664 1d ago

Last night I was watching the titans of finance. Think I'll jump back to the 1900s and experience the life back then.

6

u/rainbow-songbird 1d ago

So lets say I use the machine and go back 5 years, does that mean there are 2 of me running around for the next 5 years? Do I have to avoid myself or could I plan an elaborate commune where we all live

3

u/Distinct-Radish3617 1d ago

What a paradox

1

u/Fairlibrarian101 1d ago

I think we found the commune of Dakotas, everyone.

5

u/Jche98 1d ago

So you just become the Doctor from Doctor Who

4

u/juuchi_yosamu 1d ago

Cannot die: Can be dismembered

Cannot die: eternity in prison

2

u/Distinct-Radish3617 1d ago

Eternity in jail is a stretch. Eventually, the walls around you would crumble and fall. Plus the people guarding you would eventually die out and eventually people will forget why you're in there.

2

u/juuchi_yosamu 1d ago

Eternity itself IS a jail

4

u/Jetshadow 1d ago

I'm going to live out multiple lives, until I've built up enough wealth in order to shepherd humanity to a new golden age.

3

u/Fairlibrarian101 1d ago

Buying up enough stocks in every corporation to effectively become at least the majority owner, if not start up the business yourself if possible. Start research in any tech based company for things like space travel, artificial limbs/body parts, etc. Start research in genetics. Create a centralized company to cover everything.

5

u/Fun_Muscle9399 1d ago

Maybe like an Umbrella Corporation?

3

u/Lovefool1 1d ago

Can my Time Machine be stolen or destroyed? Or is it more like I have the power of time travel?

I don’t wanna deal with a back to the future situation where I need to store and hide and maintain my time whip, but if it’s like a wrist watch or a super power then I’m in.

Imma spend a few thousand years just attending every great live music show from the music GOATs throughout history.

After that, maybe try out spending the exact same day with every living person on the planet, one by one, cause fuck it why not

Once all that life on earth has to offer throughout its entire history bores me, I will time travel forward to the heat death of the universe and float immortal forever in the cold until my mind is entirely lost

3

u/Willamina03 1d ago

My body hurts too much to be this way forever.

2

u/blephf 1d ago

I guess I would go back to the beginning and just start skipping ahead through time when I got bored of the current era I am in.

3

u/mam88k 1d ago

Could this not have happened when I was 24? I got these knees forever?

2

u/bobrien685 1d ago

I mean.......honestly I'm in. I mean I could theoretically just keep reliving periods in time in different parts of the world. Live in say.....Spain in like....1700 to 1750 let's say... and then at that exact same time live in Italy by just going back and living the same period. Jump around to different times in history and experience the world when it was quieter. Could even live in the present day or the future too.

2

u/FoundationLive1668 1d ago

So almost doctor who. I'm down. It may be lonely at times, but being able to see the history of existence would be cool. Even with imortality, you'll never see it all. Probably would need to make the time machine homing to yourself in case of.

2

u/TheAngryOctopuss 1d ago

Go back and buy bitcoin so I'll be rich beyond belief

Then travel, go wa into the future and get cured of all my illnesses

Then go back and hang out with my parents and friends

Go to sporting events and concerts.
Basically live the best lives ever.

2

u/LaLechuzaVerde 1d ago

I have a number of politicians on a list that I go back to a time before they had protection and make sure they never have a career in politics.

Whatever that takes.

2

u/Spl4sh3r 1d ago

Depends on which type of time traveling will be active. Will it be a different universe I travel to when I time travel? Will my own past be affected by the changes I make? Can I send myself messages that prevents me from time travelling to begin with, or am I stuck in an endless loop of going back in time and mess something up that I can't undo?

2

u/MillieBirdie 1d ago

I start calling myself Dr. Who.

Then I guess I'd go kidnap the greatest minds of history and make a think-tank where they figure out how to steer humanity in a positive direction.

1

u/Hot_Republic2543 1d ago

No way they would.all get along. Huge academic egos.

2

u/ewsalvesen 1d ago

2

u/Acatinmylap 1d ago

I get jammed by the billions and billions of me who all suddenly pop into existence, being future mes who traveled back because they lived to the end of the universe again. The whole planet is awash in me, none of us can die, and it's utterly miserable. Forever.

2

u/ScottyC33 1d ago

The thought of nothingness after death is utterly terrifying to me on an existential level. That at some point I will face it, and the universe itself will essentially cease to exist from my perspective.

But also the thought of true immortality, if there being no end and at some point inevitably just existing forever in the same routine, same events, same monotony no matter how long it takes… equally terrifying.

2

u/crazySmith_ 1d ago

Just hope you fall into a black hole, then, even you wouldn't experience time anymore.

May be fun… but I would end up doing crazy things to get wildly different outcome every time…

1

u/Grease_the_Witch 1d ago

if there was a time to do it it would be now, i’m about to turn 30 and im in the best shape of my life - but immortality would be AWFUL after like 200 years and that’s nothing compared to forever

1

u/Buburubu 1d ago

1

u/Magnus-Lupus 1d ago

I accept and live an awesome existence.. when I tire I will come back to now and stop myself…

1

u/ATX_Giant84 1d ago

One of two outcomes are at play here

Option A. The "Many Worlds" hypothesis is correct, and jumping back to claim a few lottery tickets and sports bets will just branch into a new timeline. Same with getting bored in the distant future, and going back to early civilization to fuck around for the lulz

Option B. The "Many Worlds" hypothesis is incorrect, space-time is relative to itself on a single plane, and I paradox myself out of existence in the first 48 hours

Either way, full send. I'm in

Live a long life, then go back in time to before I was immortal to kill my younger self, I don't die because I never existed.

1

u/Wild_Bill1226 1d ago

So when I wan to die I just need to go back in time and mess something up so I never exist?

1

u/AmusedTyranno888 1d ago

I’m going to make a list so bear with me: 1. I’d go back in time to save every recently extinct species from their demise. 2. I’d go back and restore all lost knowledge about ancient history and the civilizations behind it 3. Kick the Evil Mustache Man in between the legs

1

u/cabensis 1d ago

Like forever ever? Not just a billion years, or something similar that'd already be crazy for a human being to experience - but truly forever with no end?

Like, Graham's number of years could pass by and we're no closer to any kind of demise?

1

u/MurcTheKing 1d ago

Traveling months into the future at a time and watching all stocks and memecoins until one explodes, closely monitoring when I should invest and taking advantage of that. Once I’m set for life quit my job, buy a house and car, and repeat an open week a couple times before moving to the next week. If I can stretch a single year out to be the length of 10 or 20 years I’m solid

1

u/nerdywhitemale 1d ago

I would spectate a lot of shit. Kinda a deep cut but I would basically become Des Tiny from the cirque de freak series

1

u/PotentialOk4178 1d ago

Go to various universities and get a degree in pretty much every subject and language. Also get trained in as many manual industries as possible. Join a few armies in different draft times so I can be as mentally and physically trained as possible. (Assuming this is the kind of immortality where you dont get killed either). Learn all there is about the world that I can and processes of building/maintaining different technologies and so on.

Go back to the very beginning of emerging human civilisation and set myself up as some sort of global deity that has knowledge of things thousands of years into the future and try to circumvent the majority of pointless human cruelty. Eradicate most diseases. And save a lot of species and environments from extinction. While somehow still maintaining a decent amount of cultural and historical diversity.

1

u/SphericalCrawfish 1d ago

Going back in time over and over and starting a crazy awesome paradox.

1

u/Mountain_Strategy342 1d ago

I would quite like to go and spend a few hundred years watching the decline of the Roman empire.

See just how close it is to what we are living now.

1

u/disco247 1d ago

I don't want to live forever but I would like to go back in time to see why the Mayans disappeared, if there was an arc and grail. Where jimmy Hoffa is. Check out the dinosaurs. Look for Atlantis. Gobto 1955 and find doc brown. Then kill a bunch of bad guys because I'll be bored by then.

1

u/thatshygirl06 1d ago

I'm basically going through all of time and having fun.

Ill progress through time the normal way, and when the universe ends up destroyed, ill go back in time and start from the beginning of humanity

1

u/Anyusername7294 1d ago

When I want to die, I will just kill younger myself. I gotta assume that this time machine is also a parallel universe vehicle, so I won't fuck this timeline

1

u/[deleted] 1d ago edited 1d ago

Offering rides, $100/ticket (I know I could make more, but I think knowledge and enjoyment belong to everyone).

Also I'd only take people to see dinosaurs. I don't need people screwing with the timeline.

1

u/La-da99 1d ago

Does going in the past change what happened in the present if I come back to it?

1

u/Dylbot787 1d ago

Experiment with the butterfly effect, see just what kind of worlds I can create

1

u/tutorp 1d ago

Sounds nice at first, but...

Lets say I'd like to experience the last 100 years. I jump back 100 years. After 100 years, I decide to do the same thing again. And again. And again. After a million years of me doing that, there's 10 000 me's walking around the 20th century. And I'm immortal, so 1 million years is an infinitesimally small part of my lifespan. By the "end", I would be practically everyone.

It doesn't really help if I extend the period of time either. The same thing will happen eventually. It'll just take more of my infinite time.

And depending on the laws of time travel, in practice this could all mean that the moment I get the powers and the time machine, this has all happened, and there's untold millions of me walking around already.

1

u/taka87 1d ago

I'll probably go back in time to meet my grandparents and ask a lot of questions about why did they emigrated, how hard it was for them to leave their families at 18 yo etc after that I'll probably go back to see if dinosaurs are really like we think or not, probably bring back a couple of blood samples, it might help with researching new medicine, go look how the mayan and the egiptians did the piramids and check if jesus was real or just a scammer.

1

u/WillDreamz 1d ago

I am going back in time to be the progenitor of humanity.

1

u/CaseyJones7 1d ago

I'd probably spend the first couple of decades (from my perspective) jumping around time just living life as I do today for the most part. Then, I'd probably settle back down after a while to where I am right now and just continue my life (after getting rich ofc) for a while. During this time, I'd probably spend a lot of time testing how sensitive time is. Is something as simple as moving a chair enough to change the entire course of history? Or do my actions in the "past" have little to no affect. Basically, what can I do in the "past" without changing the "future." If it's the latter, I'd probably spend a good amount of time in the past just watching, not affecting anything.

Now, you soft-mentioned an issue. I am going to assume that I cannot really change history, or that there are fixed points that always happen. I am going to assume that I am a fixed point, and such my direct family is as well. If this is untrue, and I can change anything, the only thing that would be different is that I wouldn't EVER go back to the past before my parents were born, because I don't want to lose them. That is, at least until millions or billions of years have passed and I no longer care. Other than that, nothing would really change.

After a long amount of time, multiple of my "lifetimes" have passed, I'd probably go find a time somewhere that I like and just enjoy life there for a while. After a couple centuries doing this, I see myself getting ambitious. I could 100% see myself getting into positions of lots of power. Like running for president but using my time travel abilities to guarantee a victory, getting myself into a high ranking position, somehow putting myself in a royal family, becoming CEO of a monopoly etc...

I honestly don't know what I'd do in these positions, probably do everything.

After millions, or billions of years of trying everything on Earth, I'd probably find a future with some kind of memory-wipe or cryostasis technology (the cryostasis is mostly so I can bring people, I don't want to be alone xD). I'd then use that to explore the stars for another few billion years (from the spaceships perspective).

After this, I'd probably begin to lose my mind literally, and all bets are off.

Will I die if I create a Paradox?

2

u/Poncemastergeneral 1d ago

You become like jack harkness I think - the aging.

1

u/Master-Shrimp 1d ago

I have no idea who that is, but I'll assume it's bad

2

u/Poncemastergeneral 1d ago

Doctor who? Bad wolf?

Ok. Essentially this guy gets shot and killed, but he’s brought back by a human with like creation like powers but no wisdom of it. She tells him to live and he does.

She didn’t set a time, or anything so he basically never dies, constantly regenerating from anything that can kill him but can still age just very very slowly.

1

u/Jhawk2k 1d ago

You think Stoned Ape Theory wasn't done by me in a time machine???

1

u/Mallthus2 1d ago

I mean, the usual Time Machine bucket list…kill Hitler, check out the seven wonders of the ancient world, etc.

But after that, I’m gonna need some cash to live comfortably forever, so I’ll probably go back in time with something that’s cheap today, but precious a couple hundred years ago. Then I’ll invest the proceeds from that in some bets where I know the outcome, both gambling bets and market bets. Bottom line is that I’d like to be able to invest $1 million in Apple in 1997, as that’d be $1.27 billion today, an amount sufficient to live comfortably in perpetuity on just simple interest income.

1

u/Convallaria4 1d ago

I wonder what would exist beyond the heat death of the universe or if it would ever reach that point without collapsing. Or would it collapse? So many unknowns. Is there an end to time? Will there ever truly be nothing?

1

u/Poncemastergeneral 1d ago

I’m finding a way into the fuhrerbunker, just after hitler is married but before the shooting bit. Hold on it gets good.

I seduce Ava Braun. I cuck hitler. I win at everything.

1

u/General_Ginger531 1d ago

Let's start by addressing the elephants in the room, what version of time machine am I using, what model of time are we using to make it, and at what level of cascade do my actions influence the timeline?

Better question, you said that the time machine can go back in time, can it go forward in time at all? Or is it when I go to the past, I am now there unless I want to go further back? Or does it have a function which allows me to go only so far forward as the most present day I have personally gone to? On what order level does it track my ability to go forward into the future, such as by my memories? If it tracks my memories, if I get a false memory implanted into my subconscious, what happens if I use that as the basis of going into the future? Does the machine prevent it, or does the time machine construct a future where the hypothetical reality I have had implanted is, to the best of coherent knowledge, turned into that timeline?

I suppose the answer to the prompt of what do I do with a time machine and infinite time to figure out what to do with it, is test every edge case of the space time continuum until I feel like I have mapped out how time actually works when time machines exist.

Travel back to Ancient Rome. Ensure that a certain carpenter from Nazareth dies an early and forgotten death, with no acclaim.

Bam. No Crusades, no British Empire, no Puritans, no conservative fascist movements. Plus it creates the paradox of “I probably never would have been born,” thoroughly erasing me from the timeline so that no one can follow in my footsteps.

It’s all the development with none of the cost or pollution. By the hundredth or thousandth time around, maybe we will be building magic.

1

u/Princeofdolalmroth68 1d ago

Welp, time to go on my trazyn arc and record everything imaginable. Footage of the pyramids being built, the hanging garden in their heyday, the voyage of Hanno, podcasts with the apostles, vibing with Buddha, slaying saracens with Harald Sigghurdson, spicy cooking on Sumatra, sailing with Xhenge-he and the Ming treature fleets.

People who get presented with this question usually want to change history, but I’d want to be there for those parts that time didn’t write down, and record it all so we’d better know where we came from and how we got here.

u/Ionovarcis 1d ago

Bringing the JGWentworth jingle to any or all of the great composers, making sure they know it’s the catchiest, most memorable music ever written and seeing how many operas and songs and stuff include nonsense numbers trying to replicate 877 Cash Now

u/RainbowsCrash 1d ago

Going back and living the last 17 years with my dog again. He's still with us, but not for much longer according to his vet.

1

u/rkmkthe6th 1d ago

I’m going to solve every mystery in history.

1

u/RedXOmega 1d ago

I normally take immortality deals even if it means I'll be alive until the end of time (cuz I'll just be frozen on space, so it doesn't matter) but now I can be happy on earth going back in time? Hell yeah

1

u/TerryTerranceTerrace 1d ago

So if you go back in time, do you lose the immortality as you would be going back to a time when you weren't immortal.

1

u/KK-Chocobo 1d ago

I dont think I'll try to change the past.

Just like in 'back to the future'. You might erase yourself from existence if what you do affects your ancestors.

And I believe my granddad was a prisoner of War who survived. If I stop ww2, he might not have met my grandma and then my mom wouldn't have been born.

I would probably only go as far as a week or 2 to win the lottery.

1

u/CaffeineChaotic 1d ago

What happens if a meteor strikes earth and blows it up into ashes? Will the time machine also be immortal or will it turn to dust with it?

1

u/AlternativeLie9486 1d ago

If I’m going to be immortal cant I please do it at the zenith of my existence rather than the nadir.

1

u/NewHandle3922 1d ago

I go back in time and invest some money. Then I come back to now and live comfortably

1

u/Reasonable-Leg-2002 1d ago

Can I be caught and tortured? Can I be burned or maimed in a fire without dying? Can someone chop me up into painful pieces? Endless horrific outcomes for the immortal

1

u/Available-Drama-276 1d ago

Ultimately filling up every single moment in time with copies of myself everywhere.

Literally any place in the universe and any place in time would eventually have a copy of me.

1

u/Yotsuya_san 1d ago

I hope eventually interstellar travel is invented and that there are other habitable worlds out there. If not, then I am kinda screwed. The first few times I reach the end of Earth's functional lifespan, I can probably travel to earlier in its timeline without too much impact. But eventually, there will be a problem of an overabundance of me!

On the other hand, if in addition to time travel, I also have all of space available to me, while being functionally immortal? Hello. I'm the Doctor.

1

u/CowboysFTWs 1d ago

1.) Go back in time, get wealthy.

2.) Built a space exploration corp.

3.) Built a space ship, cause I'm going to need it for when the galaxy implodes

1

u/kawaiiqueen21 1d ago

Catch me immediately going to the Victorian era with $ so I can enjoy the effort made clothing, buildings, transport, and again the clothing😩. I have some Victorian clothing now, but what I'd give for the real deal clothes of back then.

Besides that then probably just go to different times to check stuff out, maybe steal an invention that's big now and claim it's mine so I become rich, or change the course of history in some way idk. Main thing would def be Victorian era for sure

1

u/Initial_Citron983 1d ago

Idk going forward in time to get some miraculous you never age potion for my family. Offer to my spouse first assuming she will want to never grow old and never die with me. Offer it to my kids when they’re older, married, starting families, etc.

Also while in the future, figure out if there are ways of preserving bits of the timeline I want to not change. Like getting married to my wife, having the kids we have, etc.

Also go back in time and say buy several thousand shares of bitcoin when it first launches and pull a Back to the Future move and stick the block chains in a trust to be delivered to myself. The timing of that delivery will depend a lot on the whole butterfly effect and whether or not I’m able to keep certain things.

I don’t want to go and fuck up my family.

Which will also affect going into the past and what I do while going into the past.

1

u/Spaceseeker51 1d ago

Go back and start establishing a system of support for myself and my family and ensure they don’t want for anything. Any family which I care for will also receive this support, even if by doing this I will change the course of my own history and who I encounter. Once myself gets up to the “and then you get immortality” time frame, provide them with this information. Now there’s two of us. Repeat ad nauseum.

1

u/Top-Committee-954 1d ago

I'm going back in time to make my younger self rich so I don't have so many old man pains right now. Then I'm never going farther back in time than this started. Just living far into the future and going back in that future lifespan.

1

u/IdrewApictureOf 1d ago

Going to the very very beginning of the earth itself to see if god really does exist once and for all. I don't care if no one else will believe me because I'll know 100% for myself. Then going forward in time go stop myself from being conceived and I'll just blip out of existence.

1

u/SIacktivist 1d ago

Two chicks at the same time, machine.

1

u/Long_Pig_Tailor 1d ago

So I'm The Doctor. Sign me up, I'm trying everything.

1

u/BlackwellDesigns 1d ago

Haven't you ever seen Rick and Morty? It should be obvious what I'm gonna do.

1

u/Love2FlyBalloons 1d ago

You guys are gonna screw up the timeline so bad nothing in the future will be recognizable. In fact you might even screw up the scenario, when this deal came to you. Then die.

1

u/BIabbercat 1d ago

I would continue on with my life in the present of course because I love who I have in my life, but I would also make use of the time machine, tho I think I wouldn't touch the past, only go forward into the future to spend time improving myself for those who are existing in the present with out wasting any of the time I have with them.

I would use the time to learn useful skills, figure out some good investments and do my best to improve the lives of my loved ones and possibly anyone else I grow to care about over time. If I notice any way I could improve the future I will also do so to the best of my abilities.

I would also record as much of the present as I could in order to be able to enjoy the memories, find ways to extend the lives of my loved ones as much as possible as well with any future technologies I could find as long as it's nothing that would cause them suffering. I would do my best to share what I have.

All my alone time will be spent in another time, so that I can of course make the best of the time I have with the present. I would for sure plan to have children at that point since I cannot die from child birth, that way I can have a family of descendants to watch over and continue my life with. If it ever gets too much, I will have myself put into a medically induced coma for long periods of time or indefinitely if that proves to be a decent solution to rest.

When I leave for the future I would always mark the time I left and come back minimum 30 seconds after I left to avoid encountering myself in my current life as well because I feel like that would get messy.

1

u/BaelgorStar 1d ago

Travel through time buying and hiding rare collectibles for my future self, while completing side quests of convincing the most beautiful women of all time to have sex with me, just for the memories.

1

u/Cdoggle 1d ago

This is half of the premise of Doctor Who

1

u/The-UFO-On-Blue 1d ago

I’m gonna do everything. First, change every single decisions I made to see what happens. Kill and fight lots of people, also to see what happens. And change history hundred of times. This is just the best thing you can think of.

1

u/tshungwee 1d ago

Isn’t that the plot from Dr Who

1

u/ShoutReachThrow 1d ago

3 some with Achilles and Patroclus…

1

u/ehhish 1d ago

I appreciate the tips for... reasons. It's rough out there

1

u/Plus_Breadfruit8084 1d ago

The first thing without a doubt is going back in time and stopping myself from ever meeting my last girlfriend.

Aside from that, the world is my oyster. The few things I guess I would do is :

Go see the pyramids first built.  Go see the great wall first built.  Be present at the scene in the Renaissance paintings where there are supposed aliens flying.  Go back and meet the Indians.  Go back and spend more time with my parents before they died.  Go back and spend more time with my daughter.  Go meet some of my favorite mathematicians.  Go back and meet some of my philosophers.  Amongst many other things.

u/humakavulaaaa 1d ago

Take over the planet, abolish borders, peace is law. Let humanity live alongside nature and clean tech

1

u/skybluedreams 1d ago

I’m not sure I wanna live forever at this age. I’m kinda broken, man.

1

u/Impossible-Ship5585 1d ago

Ill go forward 10 millenia

1

u/Optimal_Law_4254 1d ago

I read a series where people would reset to a point in their lives each time they died until they “progressed” and lived their “best life”. One guy decided to be a hero and foil the bank robbery that killed several people. The first couple of times he screwed up and got killed himself only to wake up that same morning again. So he decides to give it one more try and then give up. Except this time he doesn’t die from getting shot. He becomes paralyzed from the neck down and had to live that way for 40 years before he dies and resets again.

So if I’m immortal and can’t DIE I would be stuck like that guy only forever. No thanks.

1

u/Rishtu 1d ago

Omg. I’m Jesus.

1

u/Mand372 1d ago

Cry cuz I don't want it.

1

u/Tackle-Shot 1d ago

sure, with a time machine finding way to make more people immortal would be possible. Very tedious but possible.

1

u/Jocelyn-1973 1d ago

I will finance my life with lottery tickets I suppose. And with incredibly good investments.

And when all that is arranged, I can start my humanitarian work. Save some lives. Stop some other lives. Make some pregnant women get strategic abortions here and there.

1

u/ContributionLatter32 1d ago

This time machine, is it like a flying phone booth that's bigger on the inside? How large is it and what can I bring with me?

1

u/HedonistSorcerer 1d ago

Immortal with a time machine? Obvious answer, I go to the future and create a bootstrap paradox. April 20, 6969 I’ll arrive and a past version of me will be there and hand me a journal of items to do, which I will lose and then conveniently rewrite to create the original book, DUH.

1

u/Patralgan 1d ago

I'm doing everything according to my moral code

1

u/OwslyOwl 1d ago

I’m going to continually live between 2010 and 2014. Those were my happiest years.

1

u/darkshark9 1d ago

Learning how to edit genomes. Gonna go drop off a few GMO octopi back a billion years ago and see what happens to modern day.

1

u/banshee1313 1d ago

You cannot die, but you can be buried alive or locked in a dungeon cell and forgotten. I assume any physical damage you suffer repairs itself over time. So you have to be careful. Plus you don’t likely speak enough languages to just go anywhere and learning them all is hard.

So I am picking a few time periods in the past that I can relate to and carving out a life there until everyone else gets old and I need to move on, like Dorian Gray. I will start in 1920s New York City. Then maybe Belle Epoch Paris. And so on.

1

u/shaunika 1d ago

Keep living my life till my family dies get good at makeup so ppl think Im aging.

Once Im alone just hop around in history doing shit

1

u/The_Arch_Heretic 1d ago

Time for me to become 'Professor What'. 🤣

1

u/HeftyCanker 1d ago

preventing you from posting this situation, thus stopping anyone else from gaining the same power

1

u/thenormaluser35 1d ago

This is still eternal hell, but nicer.
I'd do so many things, I'd groundhog day first until I know a lot of things.
I'd play low stakes luck games, and gamble. With a time machine it'd be easy to win.
Once I have enough fun in this life I'll go back in time and screw with the timeline.
It'd be cool if I could choose the timeline I go to.
Also, will the universe explode when I find myself?

1

u/Deadfelt 1d ago

Traveling to times of scientific breakthroughs, taking things from different times with easy access to (like a brain chip from 2050 if they're affordable by then), and going back in time until I can control and define the world as we know it.

I'm immortal and unkillable. Might as well claim what's mine.

1

u/NationalBolshevikBOB 1d ago

Begin attempts to alter history, trying to shape human history to the betterment of all mankind, but it is likely to be an impossible task, one that takes an eternity and still fails.

1

u/drapehsnormak 1d ago

Checking out missed opportunities in my life.

1

u/kodamutt 1d ago

I'm getting lotto numbers and living my life with my husband over and over and over, using the money to explore the world together

1

u/Maciejk8 1d ago

Ill be some kind of god then. I can play with whatever I want... I'll start slow and make some small tweaks first, would go some years back put some bitcoin on a drive and let it be mailed to me in current time. Then live my life in stupid wealth till im bored.

Can I also go back and undo the things I changed? Would like to seee what would happen if someone killed hitler as a kid, but there is the possibility the would be in way worse shape..

1

u/[deleted] 1d ago

If I’m literally immortal, unaging and unkillable, I’m going back to the very formation of earth. No water food or oxygen. Starving, suffocating, watching creation spawn spread fall and rise again.

Should also, very conveniently, be able to amass an absolute fortune for my kids who I’m sure I’ll miss terribly by the time I come back around.

1

u/Jordann538 23h ago

The universe will be my sandbox. Make every human be religious towards me? Sure! Make the solar systems planets crash into each other and watch humanity panic? Why not, I can just reset. Would keep me entertained for almost an eternity. But once I'm bored I could just shut my brain off and think of absolutely nothing

1

u/alanm73 23h ago

So many details are needed, like: 1. When you travel can you bring anything or is it terminator style? If it’s the latter, this is a real problem… 2. Can I bring someone else? 3. Can I paradox myself out of existence? (Or the person(s) I bring with me) 4. I maybe be immortal, but do I still feel hunger, thirst, pain from illness/injury, etc?

1

u/The_Southern_Sir 22h ago

I would go back in time and take over reddit moderation to keep the egotistical tyrants from being moderators.

1

u/Time-Signature-8714 20h ago

I’m gonna go fetch myself a dinosaur.

1

u/LightEarthWolf96 18h ago

First order of business is figuring out how this happened and who did this to me

Second order of business is beating the crap out of whoever did this to me

1

u/Expensive_Rhubarb_87 11h ago

I'm heading to a future that can reset my bod to a perfectly healthy 28 year old.

Then I'm going to screw up as much as I can :)

Go take pics of actual dinosaurs. Leave a deeply etched stainless steel plaque on top of Mt. Everest that says Second place is first loser, suckers!!!

Drop into the dark ages and advance technology a few centuries just for kicks

1

u/Intelligent-Plan-264 8h ago

In the year 252525...

1

u/Electronic-Ear-3718 5h ago

The mind-shattering horror of immortality prevents me imagining any potential enjoyment of this situation
