Ramen Hack This combination goes hard.

Anyone else tried combining these? Strain to a little bit of water before adding the Toomba powder, splash of sesame oil at the end. I promise it doesn't disappoint, you have to be hungry though.

I've been trying different mixes of ramen since I saw a chef do it somewhere on YouTube. I think he used Shin Black and Buldak Carbonara though, which honestly goes harder than this but it's all I have.

I feel like you can't really go wrong with Shin Black in any combination.

Thai Instant Noodles Mama Thai Boat Noodles

Once again Mama releasing something amazing!

Thai boat noodles are one of my favorite thai dishes, sadly are a bit hard to find in european thai restaurants, so, having an instant version that taste like the real deal for sure will cure the cravings, specially now that winter is coming

Added some onion slices and a drops of lime juice and was a great meal, just next time maybe some thinly sliced beef

I think they were about $12 so a dollar a package. I did not expect them to have the good kick that they do because the amount of chili crisp included wasn't very much but it apparently was the correct amount. I tried them today with some simple smoked pork, but in the future I can imagine that they would be really good with a bunch of scallions and maybe shiitake mushrooms instead of meats or tofu and maybe some furikake. 10/10

Online Shopping Shipping from Japan to US suspended by Japan Post

Hey everyone,

We just wanted to let you know that we have completely stopped accepting orders from the US, as there is no way for us to ship them due to the new rules of the Trump administration. Japan Post has completely stopped accepting shipments, you can check yourself in the link I provided.

It is really unfortunate it came to this. We will accept orders again once the situation has changed, but so far, nobody knows when that will be.

Korean Instant Noodles Finally Tried the Ottogi Cheese Ramen!

Post image

... and it's ... just like normal ramen but with a hint of cheese powder?! (I absolutely LOVE old Kraft Mac & Cheese, so maybe I was expecting more of this?)

I guess I expected it to be MUCH cheesier. I followed the pkg directions, with maybe a hair less water. Added pre-sauteed corn/broccoli; kimchi after tasting. I didn't think I wanted the spicy version, but I was totally surprised at how mild it tasted!

I like it. (Not sure how much though- maybe I'll just eat the normal ramens and add cheesy cheese next time.) I think I'll add much less water next time. But I can't imagine seeking this out again in the future, with all the other amazingly more delicious ones out there! I guess it's perfect for a light snack. (@450 cal 😂🤦)

Thoughts?

Thai style, "Pad Char Baby Clam Flavour." I didn't really pick up on a strong clam flavor, but they were mildly sweet and spicy, and the noodles themselves were very delicate. Pretty good, hope I get some more!

Discussion Any suggestions?

Upvotes

I used to be a big fan of instant ramen but last year I got quite sick from eating somehing unrelated however I had the instant ramen with it and so I've had a bit of a problem. Any time I see, smell or even think about the brand of instant noodles I had, I get very queasy.

The brand in question was Pot Noodles (chicken & mushroom flavour). My GF recommended I try and get over my "Mental Allergy" so I bought some other brands of instant noodles to see what would happen.

Trying different brands was not the most pleasant experience however I've found out that because of smell and texture I can eat Itsu instant ramen without problems. However the thing is that I don't actually like any flavours that Itsu have to offer.

So if I liked Itsu does anyone have any recommendations for what else I might like?

Thank you.

Discussion Q- favorite cheese ramen comparison?

Hi! I just tried the Ottogi Cheese Ramen for the first time, and now I'm curious to know what your favorite cheese ramen is and why/comparisons-- thanks!

(I liked it- prepared according to pkg but thought it was a tad mild/bland. But exactly as it says- I think I may have expected it to be more... Mac & Cheesy? I have no idea. Next time I think it needs less water and some fried Spam, plus the sauteed corn/broccoli/kimchi I happened to have. In general though, I'd rather have a ramen I would be happy to eat as-is! I'm not a fan of crazy spicy ramens, but love the regular spicy ones.)

Thanks!

Question Unique (buldak) ramen recipes?

Hi! I’m testing out uncommon (more than just a fried egg and green onions :p ) ways other people prepare their instant ramen; especially Samyang Buldak would be awesome!

If you have anything to share, maybe even something that is commonly done in your country, please feel free to reply with it! :D

Thank you!

I’m in the UK so these aren’t readily sold in stores. When I saw my ‘American store’ guy had them in stock, I had to get some for the nostalgia. What’s your favorite Maruchan flavor?

Chinese Instant Noodles Tried the Tang Daren Japanese-style Tonkatsu instant ramen, and it's surprisingly creamy, needs soy sauce but then it's good

Overall I'd say it had a fairly rich flavor, but only after I realized that what's missing is salt. I don't know its default sodium levels, but I had to add a little but of gluten-free kikkoman soy sauce, then it got a really rich flavor.

The noodles as it seems to be the norm are very similar to KSF's, rather basic but does its job, I liked the vegetable "flakes" which had these big cabbage bits in it, and the flavoring packet wasn't a powder, it had some chili oil with something liquid-y.

I'm pretty sure this one has a shorter shelf-life than other instant ramens (which is why it says 6 months expiration) but it's still OK, I just wouldn't let it hang around for years like some others (the powder based ones are just eternal, really).

Anyway, it's quite fun how this was a Japanese style flavor from what seems to be a Chinese brand. I haven't seen this one around a lot, but it works well with a bit of extra soy sauce. I'd pick this over the black garlic oil nissin tonkatsu, personally.

If you can find this ramen anywhere, GET IT! It will not disappoint. the broth is slightly creamy and rich with the perfect amount of spice, and the noodles are the perfect texture for ramen. If you like a spicy ramen with insane flavour, this is perfect.

I made it with Korean stewed meatballs and sliced cucumbers and it was to die for 🤤

Question I have WAY TOO MUCH green cabbage. Would it be good in my ramen (Shin red)? Should I stir fry it? Can I freeze it? Both???

I typically make mine with eggs poached in the broth and frozen veggies added before the noodle block…and a shit ton of peanut butter lol. Lately I’ve been experimenting with my new purchases of kewpie mayo and furikake. I don’t typically love cabbage but I don’t want it to go to waste. I suppose I’m mainly asking what’s the best way to prepare it for ramen and if it’ll hold up in the freezer. I hate to waste food which is why I’m not just experimenting myself. TIA! :)

Edit: Wow I wasn’t expecting to get so many responses! I appreciate all your ideas and will try them out :)

Question Got these noodles that are also sold in different flavors and there’s no seasoning packets? Anyone tried these before?

Post image

You could buy the same thing in tomato egg or pork rib, but they don’t have seasoning packets? So what does the flavor matter? I’m so confused. I can’t find any info online.
