I was originally inspired by a couple of posts of peanut butter and sriracha hacked noodles. I tried it with an Ayam brand gado gado sauce, but it didn’t really give what I was looking for. The sauce was too watery/weak.
I decided to give it another try; this time with sambal pecel. For those that don’t know, pecel is a spicy peanut sauce. The photo shows a store bought version, from Madiun, Indonesia, which is a place known for good nasi pecel. The small bag is a home made version, which I used.
I wanted to use the OG mi Goreng, but was out, so this chicken one is not so strong/different.
The pecel is mixed with a bit of boiling water to make a paste. I made it a little less viscous than usual, to allow for easy mixing.
I have to say, if you like spicy peanut noodles, this is the way! It’s bold, creamy, nutty and spicy!
I don’t wanna be that guy who’s says you need that one, specific, not so easy to obtain ingredient, but if you can get some (Indo shop or restaurant), I highly recommend trying this.
