Response to thank you email after an interview

I took an interview and latter sent a thank you email and received this response from the Director of HR who was on the panel:

"Thank you for your kind note. xxxxxxx and I enjoyed meeting you and getting to know about your experiences, skills and passion. Wishing you well "

Does it sound anyway positive?

It’s neutral. Either way, sending those doesn’t help land an offer- just makes you feel worse if rejected.

Disagree. I know several hiring managers who take into account whether you bothered to send a thank you note. The response itself is irrelevant.

Thank you for responding. Any reason for saying no?

No discussion about when or whether they will inform you about the next steps in the hiring process. And “wishing you well” sounds like a brush off

We discussed that at the end of the interview! They asked about my country (Duty Station) of preference.

Great. What did they say the process is?

It was actually my 4th round and they said they will reach out to schedule another interview (not technical) early next week. After the first round, they sent an email asking for my salary expectations and notice period.

Well you really should have presented all that information in the OP

Yes the fact that HR even responded is very positive!!

Honestly, that's a pretty neutral response. It's polite and appreciative but doesn't indicate a decision either way. Directors often have to stay professional and non-committal until final decisions are made. Don't read too much into it; just keep exploring other opportunities meanwhile. Good luck!

It sounds like standardized acknowledgment and I wouldn’t assume it’s positive or negative. In my experience, when companies do respond to follow up emails, they try to keep it fairly neutral.

She kept it neutral while they are in the decision process.

I would not read anything into the response. It is likely the only allowed canned response per the company policy.
