Following up after an interview if the stated deadline has passed

I interviewed for a role at the beginning of August. During the interview, they said I’d hear back by the end of the month.

I sent a follow-up email in mid August, thanking them for the interview, telling them I was still interested, and asking if the end of August was still the likely timeline. I didn’t get a reply.

It’s now the end of August and I still haven’t heard anything. Would it be okay to send another follow-up, or would that come across as pushy since I’ve already emailed once? I don’t want it to backfire.
