Had an interview with my city's legal department

Got done with an interview for an internship position at my city's legal department, and they guy interviewing me seemed to not like me much.

He also said "thank you for applying" after we were done with the questions. I'm wondering if what he said is the final nail in the coffin and I shouldn't expect good news.

What do you guys think?

I think this sub is crazy.

Nobody here can tell you whether you are going to move forward in the process. People post here who feel like the interviewer was praising them for their answers and their background— and they don’t move forward. And the reverse.

What made you feel like the interview went badly? How can you better prepare for the next one?

PS: I tell everyone we appreciate their interest in the opportunity and thank them for their application and the interview. And I mean it. Some of those will forward; others will not.

The main guy/assistant solicitor wasn't really vibing with me and wasn't laughing at a couple of the appropriate jokes I made.

Humor is not incredibly difficult to balance in an interview. It absolutely can help build rapport— but to others it can come off as unserious. Or, worse, they find your jokes annoying.
