Why do they do this?

Why do hiring managers and hr people say they’ll give you an answer by X day and almost never meet this deadline? It only creates expectations and restlessness.

PS: I’m at the final stage of a super long hiring process and the head of people said I’m a finalist and would give my an answer by Thursday (yesterday) or today… Any advice?

People are busy and it's a holiday weekend. I wouldn't expect anything before Wednesday.

But yesterday and today isn’t a holiday, right?

I had an interview yesterday and the recruiter is off today and Monday. Then I had another today but it got rescheduled to Tuesday because the hiring manager was off today and Monday. No clue man...

Lotttttttta people took today off to enjoy an extra long weekend. Don't stress just yet. It's annoying to have someone give you an incorrect deadline, but holiday weekends are wonky.
