Advice for jobseekers these days!

Doesn’t matter how many apps you’ve sent, or how long you’ve been unemployed.. never show desperation. Saying “I really need a job” won’t help, because recruiters don’t care about your situation. At the end of the day, they’re just employees too, paid to fill a role.

What actually matters is this: can you be the solution to the company’s problem? Can you make their work easier, their revenue bigger, their process smoother? That’s the lens they’re looking through.

So yeah, flip the mindset. Stop selling “I need a job.” Start selling “here’s how I can help you.” Even your CV should reflect that — it should scream value, not please hire me asap.

Thanks for sharing this but currently I am stuck in job that does not really add any value. The org expects me to take complete ownership of the project management piece but they've just introduced project management with my incoming. I feel my potential is wasted because of the lack of clear direction from leadership. I am looking to pivot and hence, 'desperately' looking for a job. How can I position myself if I haven't really solved problems at my current job? Would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks again.

I totally get how you feel... a lot of people get stuck in roles with no clear direction, and it can feel like wasted potential. But honestly, that’s something you can frame as a strength. You were handed ownership in an area that was brand new, which shows adaptability and the ability to build structure from scratch. Recruiters value that because at the end of the day, they’re looking for problem-solvers. So instead of thinking 'I haven’t solved problems here,' flip it: you’ve been navigating chaos and still managing to move projects forward. That’s real value, and if you position it right in your CV, it can make you stand out!
