iPadOS My first apple product and its ipad.

My brother surprised me with an iPad M3 11-inch along with the Pencil Pro, engraved with my name, as a birthday gift. This is my first Apple product, and honestly, at first I thought I didn’t need an iPad. But after using it for a week, I’ve realized how helpful it is. With all the notes and PDFs I have to manage at uni, it’s been super handy and a real game-changer.

Got a refurbished IPad Air m3 for 500 euros. Good condition but thought I could give it a shot. Turns out it is an only 40 cycle brand new iPad. 200+ euros less then retail and I couldn’t be happier with this money shot. Will pair it with Logi’s pop icon keyboard and mouse for my master studies as well as the metapen (which is amazing for the price and full alu)

What other settings or gadgets would y’all recommend to pair?

Just got a new iPad 10A16. I used to have the Ipad 8 and I loooooved the Smart Keyboard since I was able to attach a protective case but with the Magic Keyboard there’s no option for that, and it it’s not safe enough to my taste. I got a Logitech keyboard but I’m also not feeling it 🥹 ugh I’m frustrated

Accessories Case recommendation for user with arthritis?

Upvotes

Hi. I just bought an IPad Air 11, M3 and I need a lightweight case that still offers protection around the sides. I had my old ipad for years and never dropped it, but lately I'm having a lot of pain and weakness in my hands and dropped it twice in one day! I've bought and returned two cases already because they were sooo heavy. Does a lightweight case that still protects really exist? My other consideration is that I want something that will stand in portrait aspect as well as landscape. Currently I'm looking at the ESR Flip case but it is 345 grams. Any other suggestions?

Discussion iPad air m3 11", 256 gb battery is very good.

I bought the iPad air m3 1 week back and the battery health is pretty good. I'm using 80-20 rule and it is getting 6.5 hours for me easily while using collanote, procreate and YouTube. Dont know what happened with other guys, they're saying its draining too quickly. I turned off background refresh for all apps except one or two. It is running on iOS 18. I think all the people who are complaining now are using the beta version or what? Enlighten me where am I wrong.

Question Used iPad Air 4 vs Brand new iPad A16

Will be using it mainly for nursing school. Want to know which one is the better option, and worth the money .

Option 1: Brand New iPad A16 128gb Planning to get a trifold case, paper like screen protector, and the metapen stylus (can’t justify spending $100 on an Apple Pencil that doesn’t have pressure sensitivity or magnetic charging) Total: around $550

Option 2: 4 years old iPad Air 4th gen small scratch on the screen battery health is unknown 256gb Comes with a case, Apple Pencil 2, and charger Total: around $470

Apps Tinker CAD Alternatives

For the short of it, I've wanted to get into modeling. After I messed around with Tinker CAD...I got frustrated that it always needs an internet connection in order to keep using it.

For any aspiring modelers that prefer using the iPad, what apps do you like to use that don't require a constant internet connection.

Question iPad a16 swipe home question

Upvotes

Just got ipad a16 and when I’m in apps and try to get to Home Screen the dock comes up and keeps me in said app, it’s not as fluid returning to home and takes a couple tries. It seems much different than my iPhone 16e which easily swipes to home. Am I just doing it wrong or is there a way to adjust that?

Question Recommendation for gift

I want to buy my wife an iPad for her birthday and am looking at a slightly used (from fb marketplace) or refurbished IPad Air 5th Gen 256gb. Is this a good model to use for the following: drawing (just doodling, nothing too complex), streaming tv and movies, reading ebooks, guitar tab app (for learning chords)?

Question Thinking of switching from iPad Air to iPad Mini — worth it for a student?

Upvotes

I’m a college student studying history and political science, and my iPad is basically my secondary device. I use my laptop all the time for assignments and actual schoolwork. The iPad is just for note-taking and, even more, for reading. I spend hours reading articles, PDFs, and textbooks on it, so reading comfort is a huge deal for me.

I’ve been tempted to switch from my iPad Air to the iPad Mini because it just looks so much more comfortable to hold for long reading sessions. But my worry is whether the smaller screen will make it annoying to take notes!

I’ll also be going to law school in about two years, so I’m trying to think long-term about whether the Mini would still make sense when I’m reading even more dense material and taking more extensive notes. Thanks, guys!!

Question Ipad pro m2 or Ipad air m3 13’

I’m new to iPads so i’d like others opinion. I’ve been looking into buying an ipad to draw and do a little bit of animation. Also do apple pencils matter. I see that the air uses the pro while the pro used the gen 2.

Question Universal Control Feature on Ipad to Windows?

Is it possible to experience the Universal Control feature (like from Mac to iPad) but between iPad and Windows instead? I mean where moving the cursor on the iPad would connect seamlessly to the cursor on my Windows PC.

iPadOS Escalating an issue

I need help to get my issue escalated.

I got my iPad Air 5th Gen about 2 years ago and it worked fine up until iPadOS 18 came out. Around that time, a lot of people with newer iPads were reporting bricked devices and Apple even pulled the update for some models. I thought I got lucky when mine updated without issue… but that’s when the problem started.

Since then, my iPad cannot update by itself. Every update since 18.0 gives me the same error:

“Unable to Verify Update.”

The only way to update is by connecting it to my Mac and using Finder.

Here’s what I’ve already tried with Apple Support (escalated to senior advisors) and even at the Apple Store:

  • Force restart
  • Reset network settings
  • Tried multiple Wi-Fi networks
  • Recovery Mode restore from backup
  • Apple Store did a full restore → same issue
  • Set it up as a new iPad with Recovery Mode (no backup)

So far, nothing has fixed it. Apple thought maybe my iCloud backup was corrupted, but even after setting it up as new, the error is still there.

It feels like something broke with iPadOS 18 and my device never recovered. Updates do work through Finder, but I’d really like to be able to update directly on the iPad again like normal.

Also, Apple Store told me they can’t do anything since I’m out of warranty and if I did have warranty they would jus replace it. What’s the best way to escalate this higher at Apple so someone can resolve this issue for me.

I just want to be able to update my iPad and I don't know what to do since it has no other issue or damage literally just this weird bug. If I didn't have any other devices I would be completely bricked from being able to update.
