Camping Washington Harbor Store and Potable Water at Windigo/Ozaagaateng

According to the website here it says the Washington Harbor Store will be closing Sept 6th of this year. As far as I can tell, Rock Harbor lodge services all those amenities at Washington Harbor like showers, gas, laundry, and boat rental, etc. which will be concluded by then– but my main concern is potable water.

Is the potable water at Windigo seasonally dependent upon those facilities being open? Or is it separate? Just trying to get an idea for planning when I'm there on the 8th-11th. I did see that the Windigo Visitor Center is open until the 20th. thanks!

if you can’t bring fuel on the sea plane, how are you supposed to get fuel if the store is closed?

The seaplane company can coordinate to have some available at the dock. Reach out to them and they have contacts on the island. There’s also free partial spares always available from hikers leaving the island by plane.

Also no alcohol over 80 proof or Thermacell fuel.

I want to say the potable water spigots will still be made available, however I would contact the park to be sure.

The potable water is a Park Service function, it’ll be on until Park personnel depart.

Enjoy!!

Just bring a filter and filter from the lake.
