With all the actually decent Italian media out there... soap operas? Why do you hate yourself?

It was either a TED talk on learning languages or a YouTube video of a polyglot giving tips for learning languages. They said that being immersed in the language is the key and they recommended watching soap operas because the subjects on the shows are easy to follow for a beginner in the language. Who killed who. Who cheated on who. Etc So everyday after I finish my rocket italian course I watch an Italian soap opera and each day I understand more and more.

Fair enough. I envy you your willpower.

I want to apply for refugee status from the Trump administration in Italy, so I am quite motivated to learn Italian! If I am denied I will probably fly to Italy and never leave. haha

Understandable! Just, don't expect politics to be much better here xD

Good luck and let us know how it goes :)

Politics will be the same but no school shootings. We had another one today

Edit: I misread the headline. No school school today. The last one was all the way back in... 10 days ago :(

Oh, yeah, we don't really do the school shooting thing. Or the gun thing in general.

Plenty of other problems, but at least you don't feel like you're in the Far West...

When my Italian gets good enough, what non-soap operas should I watch?
