Do I have a chance? Be honest

Been in this hiring process for over a month for a position at a super cool company. Offer is great, responsibilities are aligned with my goals and experiences, benefits are awesome too. Passed the first interview with the hr person - moved forward to the interview with the hiring manager - was selected to go through an assessment - one more call with the manager to explain my assessment presentation - and now they finally reached out to me to saying exactly this “the hiring manager would like you to meet the head of people, we know this is an additional step but for us it’s really important to choose the right person for the role”.

So of course I accepted it and took the interview with the head of people. To my mind, it was awesome. I was calm and gave him clear and strategic answers that showed how much I was ready for this role and my expectations for growing inside the company. They said they’d give me an answer by today (didn’t get any so far) or tomorrow.

Anyway, what do you think? Do I have a good chance? Would they move me so forward in this process If they didn’t mean to hire me?

Got it bro — let’s be real. From what you described, you’re deep in the process already. If they weren’t serious about you, they wouldn’t have made you:

  • pass HR screening,
  • do a manager interview,
  • complete an assessment + present it,
  • talk again with the manager,
  • and then meet the Head of People.

That last step isn’t random — usually it’s just a culture fit / final approval check. They already like your skills, they just wanna confirm you’re someone they can bet on long-term.

Not hearing back exactly on the promised day? Super normal. Internal sync, budget approvals, or comparing finalists can easily delay things a day or two.

So yes, you’ve got a very strong chance. Not a 100% lock (could be another finalist), but if you’ve come this far, odds are in your favor.

Some companies make offers on your last interview, some don’t. You are not out of the running but I would definitely follow up with a thank you email etc. badger them without being obnoxious!

This seems like there is another person who is as good as you, and sadly they only need one. I really wish you success

You have posted about this multiple times in:

r/interviews r/jobhunting r/careerguidance r/jobsearchhacks r/recruitinghell r/CareerAdvicePH

r/cscareerquestions r/careeradvice

and you have received advice there. You seem to have trouble waiting for this hiring decision.

Can you take your mind off this and focus on something else? Maybe help someone you know and focus on them?
