I quit my job on 7/11 and got a higher paying offer today

I quit my horribly toxic remote workplace on 7/15 with no notice and no job lined up. I was expecting to be out of work for months, but I got an offer today that's significantly higher paying than my previous job. There's hope, I promise!

Happy to answer any questions on what I did while hunting, offer advice, or be a shoulder for anyone still searching. šŸ«¶šŸ¼

(ETA I can't edit the title of this & it's driving me crazy, I quit on 7/15!)

6 months, 100+ job applications, 10 initial interviews, 3 final interviews, finally 1 job offer!

Moving country during one of the worst Biotech/Research job markets in the UK was tough. Many of my friends were made redundant during this time so I knew it was going to be hard! In the end, I've pivoted a bit to getting a job in a hospital lab but I'm excited!

I've side hustled my way through this time, but it's great to finally have some stability :)

Had a few false alarms along the way, all the way to a company inviting me to an informal coffee meeting on site to meet the whole team after a final interview and really getting my hopes up to performing badly at strangely formatted STAR interviews- but I'm in! It's hard out there and I don't care what other people say these companies are making you jump through so many hoops now to prove yourself and I've never seen anything like it!

Hang in there guys :)

Is that a polite thing to do?

I’m at the final stage of a hiring process at this company and thought of connecting with the hiring manager (who I’ll be working closely with) on LinkedIn. Is that a polite thing to do at this stage?

Applying for a job I didn’t get last year and got invited back again

Last year I applied for a job. Got an interview did well, then got invited back to do a hands on test. (I work in the industrial field) didn’t get the job. Got a rejection from HR saying they wanna keep me in mind if other opportunities pop up. 1.5 year later they reopened the position and I applied again. Got invited back once again for an interview , and just did my hands on test again yesterday( only 3 people tested) . Same panel and supervision as last time also , so it was familiar faces. Said they were impressed with me last time just wanted more experience. But now I’m just currently waiting till next week to hear a decision and I feel like I did much better this go around. Has anyone had this experience or wanna share their opinion on that they think?

This job searching thing is unnaturally exhausting.

I don't know if it's just me or what, but I feel that this whole process of looking for a job is terribly draining, both mentally and physically. And sometimes I even feel it's humiliating and humbling. I think we can all agree that the job market is tough right now, really, really tough. ā€˜Entry-level’ jobs want 5 years of experience, minimum wage jobs want experience, and jobs that are supposedly for any age want experience.

The whole thing has become absurd. I spend most of my nights scrolling on Indeed or Facebook through a ton of jobs that have absolutely nothing to do with me, just to find one single thing that might interest me. And after I finish reading the job description, and the long list of ā€˜requirements,’ I slowly close the browser and Indeed and just give up.A few people told me that the best thing to do is to submit your CV for jobs you think you have absolutely no chance at, but even after I tried doing that, it was still no use.

Do I have a chance? Be honest

Been in this hiring process for over a month for a position at a super cool company. Offer is great, responsibilities are aligned with my goals and experiences, benefits are awesome too. Passed the first interview with the hr person - moved forward to the interview with the hiring manager - was selected to go through an assessment - one more call with the manager to explain my assessment presentation - and now they finally reached out to me to saying exactly this ā€œthe hiring manager would like you to meet the head of people, we know this is an additional step but for us it’s really important to choose the right person for the roleā€.

So of course I accepted it and took the interview with the head of people. To my mind, it was awesome. I was calm and gave him clear and strategic answers that showed how much I was ready for this role and my expectations for growing inside the company. They said they’d give me an answer by today (didn’t get any so far) or tomorrow.

Anyway, what do you think? Do I have a good chance? Would they move me so forward in this process If they didn’t mean to hire me?

I feel like it’d make more sense for jobs to be ā€˜first come first serve’.

It seems like nowadays every job wants to hire this mystical candidate that has senior level experience for an entry level position. It’s literally 2025 everyone has a degree and majority of us are just looking for an opportunity.

I understand that having a better resume than others is good but it doesn’t mean the person with less credentials isn’t capable of doing the job and doing it well.

At the end of the day you’ll still need to be trained for any new job you get. It amazes me just horrid and hopeless it feels looking for a job. especially because finding one is a literal life or death situation.

You’d think by now at our evolved stage as humans we’d figure out a more sustainable, humane, and less degrading way to provide for ourselves.

And obviously for higher more prestigious positions go ahead and have the 3-4 stage interviews it would make sense as the person applying would ideally be applying from within the company and has steady income.

But to have a 3 stage interview for a entry level job is ridiculous how can they not understand that the person applying for the job might be down to the last of his/her savings and getting the job determines if they make rent or get evicted. So while they’re stressed over that obviously they wouldn’t be able to perform well in a stupid 3 step interview.

We need to stop all the posturing and silly interview questions. What exactly do my strengths and weaknesses have to do with if I can work in a call centre or do customer service. Obviously for any well rounded individual you’d be trying to work on any glaring weaknesses you have especially if it’s the difference between having a job or not.

These companies act like getting a job is this cute little activity that everyone is so excited to participate in. But we all know we tolerate jobs so we can have money/freedom. I just don’t get the need to dress it up as this grand event lmao.

Asking anyone why you want to work for a company is like asking a man dying of hunger why he wants some food. Like can we be fucking for real šŸ˜‚

Is Leigh and Co Events a scam and posting scam jobs? (wedding coordinator assistant jobs in Dallas)

Thumbnail

Does anyone work as a wedding assistant for Leigh and Co Events in Dallas? I am unsure if they are a scam or not…

I recently submitted an application for a wedding assistant position with Leigh and Co in Dallas and sent a follow up email a few days later inquiring about the role. The owner emailed me back saying she thought I would be a great fit. When I sent a follow up email to her inquiring about the next steps in the hiring process and the company’s interview process, she did not answer my questions. Instead, she sent me a W9 form to fill out, a wedding event schedule sheet, a master doc of their wedding information, a link to their planner contact information, and their 2026 wedding spreadsheet. She also sent me training videos that are just voice recordings with instructions on how to fill out which wedding you wish to work. At the end of this email, she provided me with an email contact to another woman in their company who I am meant to direct my questions to.

Apparently they are a big wedding event coordinator company all across the US…but their websites are separate for each area with one main website and I’ve noticed that the job titles for some people and their images don’t match up. The woman that I was told to contact by the owner has the title ā€œlead plannerā€ on one site, in another website for their company she’s the ā€œdirector of sales and coordinatorsā€ and in the last she does not exist. I also cannot find a single place of headquarters for their business, and it feels odd to me that they don’t have one office in Dallas or any other state. It definitely raises a red flag.

Not only that…why would they immediately give me a W9 form to fill out with no interview process at all?! And before you worry, no I have not filled anything out or contacted them again.

This is the first job I’ve heard back from in three months and I am desperately trying to find work that I can work my way into a social media management position, a marketing position, or a position where I can use my photography and videography skills. The job market is horrible and flooded with so many scammers. I’m worried this is just another one.

In the pictures I have their multiple websites, their contact info (which lacks a location) and their instagram.

If you have any info, please let me know!

Senior with 2.996 GPA applying for early career jobs - can I land something in finance/marketing/communications?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m currently going into my senior year of college with a 2.996 GPA. That means I have 2 semesters left to raise it above a 3.0 (which I’m working hard on), but in the meantime, I’ve already started applying for early career jobs.

I’m a bit concerned about how my GPA will affect my chances of landing a job after graduation, especially since a lot of applications still ask for it. I’ve attached my resume (with company names blocked out for privacy). Do you guys think this is competitive enough?

I’m mainly interested in finance, marketing, and communications within banks, as well as operations roles, but honestly I’m open to other opportunities too if it helps me break in.

Any feedback on whether my resume + experience outweighs the GPA issue? And if anyone’s been in a similar spot, I’d love to hear how it worked out for you.

Thanks!

Didn’t get the job after completing final round - rejected by a ā€œno replyā€ automated email.

This post is really just to vent and to take any advice you all have to give. But yesterday I received an automated rejection email from a company I had been interviewing with the entire month of August. I met every single one of their requirements, and nailed all the interviews, even making it to the final round.

I work in HR, so I know how important it is to find a culture match. I truly felt a strong match to this organization and really enjoyed everyone on the team that I met. But to be sent a ā€œno-replyā€ felt like SUCH a slap in the face.

I ended up asking the recruiter directly if there was any feedback, and she literally said ā€œthere’s no feedback to provide, best of luck in your search!ā€

I’m at a loss. I’m so discouraged. I’ve been unemployed for a year. I’m 30. I want to start my life. I want a house with a yard for my dog, to start a family with my boyfriend at some point in the near future, etc.

I just don’t know what it is about me that is making companies just interview me and end up going a different direction last minute.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

A month in…

…After being laid off as a teacher. I’m tailoring my resume with each application and it’s a lot. I anonymized my resume and I’m using AI to rewrite each of my past jobs to align with the skills required of each application. Just got my first bite with (hopefully) an interview. If anyone needs a hand with using free AI to rewrite stuff, hit me up!
