That’s why you don’t break your posture when you’re taller

Could be they were also playing with leg attacks, in which case an upright posture can leave you open - especially if you don't have a gi to hold onto

That’s fair. My comment was meant to reflect how it should be in judo matches specifically

Different system no gi with leg attacks and no gi grips to maintain distance. Posture is very different. Jon's posture is fine in this clip tbh, that's why he wasn't successfully tripped

This was a similar sequence to that viral Japanese Olympic player right? Kouchi-kosoto-sasae?

Yeah but not necessarily Kouchi. Opened with a turning twitch fake, could be any throw to uke's right side (Osoto/Kouchi, any turn throw) to bait a hip bump defense

It was an O Uchi fake to step behind for the lift. Then when Jon stepped out (which he did by bending his leg at the knee) it was perfect timing for the sasae while Jon was on one leg

If the dude had kept the arm control and not lost his balance and had to post then he would have landed Jon flat on his back. But Jon's weight distribution was excellent so the guy lost his balance committing too hard to the sasae, and had to post

I think this assessment is absolutely correct...not sure why you were down voted. fake O uchi to well timed left sasae.....pretty great considering Jon's experience and the size discrepancy.

Nope that combination by Keiji Suzuki was sasae -> kouchi -> de ashi barai.

It was actually Kenta Nakano- vid is posted by WallondeSuede below! (13 sec into video)

You mean Keiji Suzuki, the current head coach of Japan and 2004 Olympic champion? Oh well, guess I better share the video.

But no, that's not what is being done in the video with Jon Jones. Uchimata feint to kosoto-gari then sasae on the reaction.

He seemed like he had fun, not sure about the caption tbh. His laugh is like (mf ya got me good I hate it.) 😂

They look like they're having fun to me. Maybe he was taken aback a little by how effective it was, but def amused and impressed.
