More judoka should be encouraged to move to mma and more mma folks should be encouraged to get in to judo.

Why though. Judo has a lot more prestige than MMA to the eyes of many. MMA is seen as brutish and low brow, and its best guys are constantly begging for boxing matches just to make the money they deserve.

Prestige in the eyes of who? MMA viewership revenue is far, far higher which seems to contradict your point

Perception and sports wise. Governments do not fund MMAists and they tend to be quite poorly paid.

This isn't to say Judoka are great either, but the prestige of Olympic gold medal and state funding is a pretty big deal.

Governments are a drop in the bucket when it comes to funding any sort of martial arts athlete. Unless you are from an extremely poor country

In my experience the countries in which Olympic athletes hold the most prestige are those which are the most financially challenged or I the need of national icons
