Beginner Here's how I got my gi white, after it started staining yellow.

It's me the person who had a yellow gi a week ago. Thank you for all your suggestions, I put them into chat gpt and had it given some suggestions as well as make up a gi care plan to keep it clean and functional.

I won't go through the whole thing, but in short.

Exfoliated my skin and had a quick cold shower before training and wore my rash guard (don't know how much of an effect this had, but every little helps).

Straight after training put my gi in a bucket of warm water with half a cup of oxi and massaged collar (still looked yellow at this point).

Gi was already broken in, so hot wash (60 degrees) for an hour, with half a cup vinegar, oxi, and biological detergent. Set it to rinse afterwards to remove the rest.

Hung out to dry in the sun and there you have it a pristine white gi every time. I don't know if it needs such as an intense wash every time, but this worked for both of my very yellow gi's.

Don’t do this Op

Vinegar and oxy create paractetic acid. The fumes can cause lung, eye and skin damage. When it dries it can created deposits in your washing machine which will cause damage over time.

To impact stains white vinegar requires baking soda. It has little cleaning power on its own.

Just use oxy. It was the only step in your process with positive impact on whitening clothes

On a personal note the rest of the advice you were given was unfortunately plain bad.

Exfoliating doesn’t stop your body from creating sebum. You can have some influence on sebum production by dietary means but it pretty much is what it is.

If you’re struggling with underarm stains switch to an antiperspirant/deodorant without Aluminum. Aluminum binds to sebum to create those dark underarm stains.

Adding in, the exfoliating so close to your class time is also doing a disservice by leaving you more susceptible to infections.

It's not dauntingly terrible odds, but it is non-trivial.

One of the risks of using AI, thanks for letting me know.

Great to hear our advice worked!

I always wear some kind of sports T-shirt (like UA heat gear) under my GI (much cheaper than anything advertised as rash guard) and only get some mild staining at neck at armpits which doesn't show on the outside.

Oxyclean is what I’m thinking
