Judo News Katame no Kata, and USA Judo Coaching clinic at Hollywood Judo

Just wanted to share that my dojo Hollywood Judo is hosting a Nanka/USJF Katame no Kata certification clinic. Those who need it for their dan promotion can get their certification here. It's going to be on Sunday August 24th 9am-4pm. Information and sign up here

On September 14th 10am-3pm we're also hosting a USA Judo Coaching clinic to renew/certify new coaches. Just make sure you have your safesport and background checks done beforehand.

IMHO Katame No Kata should be taught to orange belts and required for green. It gives a very good foundation for Ne Waza. It makes no sense to learn it only at dan grades.

I agree, but that's what the organizers wanted to promote it as (we're just offering the space), dan grade isn't required for people to show up. They actually tried to hold regular classes before but not many showed up, and those who did show up wanted to do nage no kata.
