Competing and Tournaments Recommend fighters to watch.
I’m currently unable to train and compete for medical reasons so to keep up with progress I’d like to start analysing fighters and taking pieces from their game and trying to workout around my situation. Can anyone recommend any high levels fighters to watch that are tall for their weight class and fight predominantly left handed. I like using over the back grips too if that helps find a fighter similar. Preferably someone that does less drop throws but I’m open to anyone. Thanks. If you need my current weight class or any info just ask.

While not that tall for the weight class, I’d say Hidehiko Yoshida. Love watching old videos of his high school days at setagaya gakuen. Also while not a lefty watch nagase, he treats opponents as if they’re opposite stance even if they’re in ai yotsu

If you can afford the IJF subscription for a year I'd say get it. Its like $100. You can literally watch every IJF match by player. As for tall lefties I really like Sanshiro Murao. He just won worlds. Also Timur Arbuzov is a righty but super lanky for his weight class, and does a lot of back gripping/sutemi-waza. Also just won worlds :).

Shinohara Shinichi is the most educational person to watch for tall lefties. Basically wrote the book on kenka yotsu kumikata and his movements are very energy efficient and attainable even for hobbyists. Judovision youtube channel has tons of his matches.
