Judo x BJJ Any throws or strategies you recommend for an opponent who doesn't wear a shirt and sweats a lot?
Today I have a BJJ match, and it turns out I've had to face someone several times who doesn't wear a shirt and actually sweats a lot. So I've tried to apply techniques like goshi, but the problem is that when I try to do so, my opponent always breaks free, using his strength and also his slippery skin, which makes it difficult for me to get a good grip.
Last time, we ended up at a stalemate, as he tried to apply holds like the armbar, but I was too far from his technique. I tried to do the same, but he also broke away from my attempts.
So, what strategies do you recommend for tonight's match? I should also clarify that my opponent weighs the same as me.

It kind of depends on how he fights and what you're good at. Clothesline into osoto is fun. Even if it fails nobody likes a shoulder to the neck.

Honestly going from my bjj/submission grappling experience, I'd suggest a bodylock to kneetap takedown then get to the back for a RNC.
If you're deadset on using judo then an o-goshi or a sasae is you get to a clinch and inside bicep position

Get an upper body clinch that you are confident in, and use sumi gaeshi, if you want it to be a named Judo move.
Other good options are: overhook uchi-mata, ude gaeshi (dangerous), yoko wakare (lat drop), and over-under Osoto, if you're good at Osoto.
The strategy you are looking for is forcing overhooks and/or underhooks. Judo moves are easiest with a strong overhook. If you fight for double underhooks though, your opponent will probably try to get his own, which can set you up.
Without time to practice, good luck lol. Give 'er!

Karo Parysian has a series on applying in MMA. I’m pretty sure you can find these on YouTube.

Aside from everything else, you need to be firm and ask that your opponent wear at least a rash guard. Staph isn’t fun. Ben Askren lost both lungs from staph. You aren’t being paid to compete.

Wait how did he got it

Not sure. Direct skin to skin or skin to mat probably isn't good.

Wet gi offers unbreakable grips. Sode and eri seoi nage are my favorites because I can just grab and ragdoll until they give up and let me throw

I feel like a BJJ sub would give you better advice on this, but as a Judo noob and a BJJ less than noob I'd probably try to go for a Kata Gatame once on the ground.
I feel it's one of the moves less likely to be affected by sweat and while typically used as a pin but if you squeeze a bit more it becomes a choke, alternatively if you can get the position for a Hadaka Jime (RNC) that would probably work in spite of sweat, heck the lubrication might help you slide into position.
Anyway I'm talking out of my ass because I don't have experience against sweaty no-gi people, but it's worth a shot at least.

Soto-Maki-Komi, but you grip his wrist instead of his Gi.

That just sounds like a recipe for them losing their grip and getting their back taken. Feels like if you really wanted that, you get an overhook instead.

Don't hunt for wrists when arm barring or kumuraing.
He's too slippy to grip. Grip yourself.
Get as close to the base of the arm as you can. Grab yourself (arms crossed hook yourown tricepts). Don't pull back and fight. Roll towards the opponents legs and then extend yourself. Bam. Armbar

Maybe try a non-judo sub?

I've practiced judo for a long time, so I want to see how I can adapt what I learned in judo to other scenarios and environments where I fight without a jacket. Like the first BJJ fighters, I live in a hot and humid place, so it would be strange to see someone wearing a jacket.
Think of it more as an adaptability of the sport, like variants of parkour, fencing, or swimming, as something that must be practiced traditionally.

You can do judo without a gi but it’s very different. Judo is a sport. In my neck of woods we call it playing not fighting.

Well, where I live, the colloquiall name is called "wristband" (muñequera without traductions) to refer to fights or games that involve a lot of wrist sparring.
Also, when I say bjj fighting in this case, I mean it with the same connotation as boxing sparring, that is, a controlled fight, with rules and made for training, very different from those fights where you throw a rock or a chair at your opponent, where the police have to intervene.

If you are wearing a rash guard, it will give you some grip on him if you can get underhooks etc some bjj guys wear gi pants even for nogi so they can utilise their legs and make it harder for people to slip out

Can you just grab a convenient handful of skin or a love handle? Kind of the way you create a handle on the back of someone’s gi when you can’t get to the belt. You can use a Shuai Jiao gripping style where you punch in with your fingers and try and get as much meat as you can.
For Ippon seio, you grab at the forearm and then slide down to lock at the wrist. You’ll naturally secure at the hand.

Is this real or in your imagination?

Nope, in fact he goes to mixed martial arts classes at the same time I do. In fact, I tend to spar with more people, but in this case I also asked the question to adapt my judo to an environment where you fight shirtless. So I took advantage of both situations, the one with the friend I fight with and this thing of wanting to adapt my style to other types of situations, to make the post.
