My moment to shine: I have actually taught judo to blind kids in India (in Mumbai). My experience - they were rather gifted. The gripping fights were less common. But the throws were great!

how did you get into it? do you have any suggestion / advice for people who are interested in doing the same?

In my case, I was a national level fighter already and my sensei was an ex-olympian who was teaching the program at the school for the blind. He asked if I would teach for him a few times. So, I agreed to do that. Seems like a good conversation for Tatami talk ;)

yeah I need to do more research about it! I've been interested for a while and casually looked up opportunities for it. It seemed like we used to have a program here with the blind institute here in LA but that program seems to be gone now. I should probably spend more time and talk to more people about it.

Ummmm... i have no idea where you got your information. Because there are teams of Indians who have fought in the olympics. I have personally fought against at least 2. (None have medals as best I know). Here is a list from the JFI: http://onlinejfi.org/about-jfi.php

And the guy who qualified for the Olympics was Avtar singh weight category (-90kg). The olympics was the 2016 summer olympics held at rio de janerio. Apart from that no other judoka have been able to go close to the points talley which qualifies you for olympics.

I didnt say that it was in the last olympics. Not sure where you got that information...

This is wonderful. Good luck to them in their training. I hope they never have to use it for the purpose of self defense.
