I got to fight with both Kelly and Christa and it was amazing!!! I was absolutely fanning over them 😁

What do you think about the fight and how it ended? Personally I think it was a great fight, with attacks from both judokas. It is a shame that is has to end with hansoka-make, and I don't agree. Both fighters were still active, and it would have been very exciting to see the match continue.

One of my favorite judoka to watch is Davlat Bobonov (UZB). He was considered a contender at -90 in the 2024 Paris Olympics, but was surprisingly knocked out in an early round. As far as I can tell, he hasn’t played for almost a year. Did he retire or get injured?

Athlete Director Positions (2) for the USA Judo Board of Directors
Nicole Stout and Ari Berliner are duly elected to serve on the USA Judo Board of Directors for the 4-year term of 2025-2028.
Coach Director Position for the USA Judo Board of Directors
Ari Miller is duly elected to serve on the USA Judo Board of Directors for the 4-year term of 2025-2028.
At-Large Director Position for the USA Judo Board of Directors
Jerry Cypert is duly elected to serve on the USA Judo Board of Directors for the 4-year term of 2025-2028.
Independent Director Position for the USA Judo Board of Directors (4-year term)
My only commentary is voter turnout must have been low. Any USA Judo member paid up in dues (they claim around 20,000 members I believe) could vote for the board of directors position and there were under 1,000 votes. I assume that's probably normal though, and this got more attention than elections a few years ago.

“The International Judo Federation (IJF) has announced the suspension of the Portuguese Judo Federation (PJF) from participating in the upcoming World Championships in Budapest, following an unresolved financial dispute over unpaid debts.
The disciplinary decision comes after a long series of payment delays by the PJF, which had entered agreements with the IJF to host several key international events, including the 2023 World Junior Championships in Coimbra and the annual Grand Prix in Odivelas from 2022 to 2025”

I always use ouchi-gari just as a distraction and only have few success when my opponent try to circle around me. Anyway, does anyone use ouchi-gari as the major move and what’s your thoughts of this new theory of HanpanTV?

What is the background of this? I’m only in the UK federation as I’m studying here (for the past year) I have no idea on what happened but it seems to have somewhat impacted the Olympics?

So does anyone know why there are no male British judokas in Paris?
Just wanted to share that my dojo Hollywood Judo is hosting a Nanka/USJF Katame no Kata certification clinic. Those who need it for their dan promotion can get their certification here. It's going to be on Sunday August 24th 9am-4pm. Information and sign up here
On September 14th 10am-3pm we're also hosting a USA Judo Coaching clinic to renew/certify new coaches. Just make sure you have your safesport and background checks done beforehand.

In the Womens' U-63, one finalist and one repechage finalist had left the GB team for Mexico and Austria respectively. The latter beat the British no.1 en route. Why did Britain lose these players? And incidentally why are there no UK male judoka in Paris? Wtf's going on with British judo atm?

Do people who call Reverse seoi-nage Korean seoi-nage have no conscience? It is an insult to Japan and Judo, and an insult to Jigoro Kano, the creator of the technique. It's just a term that Koreans used as Korean seoi-nage instead of Reverse seoi-nage because it was popular with a certain Korean athlete and in Korea, so Koreans wanted to act like they were the originators. Everything in Korea is always like this. They steal something from Japan, rename it in Korean style, and call themselves the originator. And you guys who know it and go along with it are the problem. It's not fair to call it Korean seoi-nage just because it's used a lot in Korea when it wasn't even created by Koreans.

If you are active on Instagram and follow certain Judo players - in this case Uta Abe, you may have noticed that since Abe's loss to Diyora Keldiyorova, Abe's page has been besieged by comments from Uzbek fans. These comments are often mocking, sometimes simply Uzbek flags, and some positive that express their support for Abe and apologising for their country peoples' behaviour.
The level of comments, including on posts completely unrelated to the Olympics, led to her opponent Keldiyorova herself to speak out to ask them to stop:
What has our sport become that this is deemed an acceptable way to treat someone? I don't recall Abe ever saying anything negative about any of her opponents, certainly not Keldiyorova.
As Keldiyorova mentions in her post: "I ask all fans to show deep respect for everyone, regardless of who they are! This is sport, this is the force that unites us! We are all a judo family."
