Recently discovered my love of jungle and want reccs
I've recently fallen head over heels for jungle and dnb generally. I've been getting every metalheadz and Good Looking Records Points in Time I can find but what are some lesser known mixes or artists to look into? Either late 90s/early 00s or modern stuff but I'm noticing I'm more into the 90s stuff

Look on soundcloud for studio mixes from the big 90s jungle djs - Hype, Grooverider, Kenny Ken, Mickey Finn, Randall and co
Spotify playlists are the worst way to listen to jungle, djs all the way

Oh yeah mostly I've just been finding old label mixes and promos, haven't used Spotify in like 5 years haha
But thanks! I'll check em out!

Check out the Moving Shadow releases between 1993 and 1997, they were fantastic…
https://youtu.be/9ySxxVOHW7A?si=uXFLyRU9JYTAX1xv
Also the moving shadow 2-on-1 series.
https://youtu.be/Wjgwexbuy9A?si=Z0-jgaLGMSvSDMgu
Labels like basement records and Precious Materials also out great stuff on the mid-nineties.

Also try DJ Crystl - his releases on Deejay are superb

Agree with all of this.
Also reinforced records from the same period.
Spatial records is the GLR of today and amazing.

There are some legendary mixes like peshay's studio mix, but for me, you can't beat the energy of a live set with an MC.
https://www.ravetapepacks.com/
This page has an archive of hundreds of sets over the past 30+ years. Some of my favourites are dreamscape, helter skelter and (coming from the midlands) Amnesia House, Amazon and Quest.
If you listen to a few, you'll probably find which DJs really click with you and can go and hunt more of their sets, then you can go hunting your favourite tunes ( rolldabeats.com will help here).

Hardscore.com is a good one to and has the bonus of more often than not having the track lists on them

That's a nice archive! Did not know about the site at all. Thanks.

Give this a try if you want some 90’s jungle. There a full track list so you can dig a bit deeper if you like any of the tracks 👌
Admittedly it’s my own mix, but it’s had 300k views so I rekon I did something right 👍

Check out Ray Keith and Dread Recordings, also Bryan Gee and V Recordings.
Both labels still going, both 30 years in the business, both pioneers and promoting new artists.
They both have podcasts with new releases like the Dreadcast (Thames Delta Radio YouTube) and the V recordings podcast. Or their older mixes will be on YouTube.
Also check out the RinseFM app. They have Rinse FM , Kool FM, Swu FM stations. Don't know if they have full back catalogue (Kool would be a treasure trove) but a LOT of music there, but a variety, not only jungle DnB. Start with Bladerunner and Born on Road, search alphabetically.

Look up Over/Shadow and Moving Shadow, MS have a lot of the early classic jungle and DnB tracks. Over/Shadow is everyone from Moving Shadow apart from Timecode/ Rob Playford

Look for early mixes from bukem on YouTube. In particular look at the yaman mixtapes.

High contrast essential mix from 2003. The more you listen to it, the more you will understand his flawless transitions.

I’ve been really into Cheetah and Nia Archives from the modern scene. 4am Kru is amazing, too. Mercian Breaks has a few amazing tracks blending traditional breaks with jungle tempos. Sully has some terrific “experimental” jungle tracks, I’ve been hearing his track “XT” in tons of sets over the last year

u/candlestaff69 3d ago
Saw both cheetah and sully at boomtown they are incredible. Sullys set was definitely more experimental. i can't say I've heard a set quite like it before.

Sully really is in a league of his own. His sets are out of this world. While a lot of others like Cheetah, Nia, and 4am Kru are updating the vintage sound, Sully seems to be reinventing IDM side of jungle from the mid-90s. And when I say reinventing, I mean it. “XT” is one of the most exciting jungle tunes I’ve heard in recent years and “Nights” is far and away one of the best modern attempts at a contemporary pop-jungle fusion. “Nights” is 100% slept on, that track is a marvel

For mid 90s to early 2000s jungle, I always recommend these mixes. About 7 and half hours of proper ragga and jump up jungle from the golden era.
