I’ll never understand Zuko x Katara….
I get that Zuko had a redemption arc and his character is the best character but seriously - he shares absolutely 0 chemistry or romantic tension with Katara….
Aang was there for her from the beginning even giving up the avatar state for HER.
Zuko spent two seasons trying to hunt down team avatar and endangering Aang and katara’s lives. And he betrayed katara’s trust in ba sing se…and he stole her mother’s necklace to try and track them down….
Aang and katara deserve each other, just like how Hermione and Harry should’ve ended up together

it's so interesting that people connect harry & hermione to kataang
i had been thinking about it just yesterday again and while reading the comics (however flawed, have their merits) i saw a scene that reminded me of hhr :
k to a: 'you've got that look"
a: "what look?"
k: "the avatar look, the "i'm responsible for everything that happens in the world" look"
it really reminded me of hermione telling harry "don't you think you've got a saving people thing?" (order of the phoenix)
while the context is different (harry is a lot more ticked at hermione for pointing it out bc it's during a stressful moment), it's similar in the sense that both hermione and katara sense that harry/aang have the weight of the world on their shoulders and is the only one to really notice and try and help them feel less alone/less responsible for it
i think that KA & HHR share this deep mutual understanding and support for the other that make them so plausible
*edit: i've also noticed that people who ship zu/tara also tend to ship dramione and reylo; i think that people are attracted to certain ship dynamics (i'm not saying this is set in stone, more that this is a potential pattern)

You lost me at the last part. Hermione and Ron's romance is portrayed better in the books, and it's still decent in the movie adaptations, but just not as good as in the books. Ron is also much sharper in the books, and often hilarious with the jokes he makes.

Wtf does Hermione and Harry have in common with Aang and Katara? There's nothing alike in their relationships, including the viability of a relationship

Zuko didn’t steal katara’s necklace. He found it on the fire nation ship after katara lost it while freeing Haru and the other earthbenders

Oh I remember this post. I had tumblr last year and there was a big group of ZK who just went into KA space and started flaming OP because of this post. The takes there are the most insane i‘ve read so far. Fortunaly i deleted my profile. There are literally profiles to write essays of why kataang is so horrible and aang is an abuser. A lot of accounts (especially ZK) on there need to touch some grass.

I've seen fanfictions where Aang tries to take Katara away from Zuko BY FORCE, uses the Avatar State to coerce her into loving him and comes back to 'claim' her after they believe Zuko was killed in a terrorist attack...
Riight. Lemme uh remind me you of a few scenes from the show...
"So you were just gonna take Appa anyway??"
"Yes. Don't try to stop us!"
"I wasn't planning to. This is a journey you NEED to take. You NEED to face this man."
"I'm sorry Katara.....I hope you NEVER have to see me like that again...."
"I was in the Avatar State, but I was outside my body watching myself. It was scary. I was scary...."
"This isn't about finding a teacher. This is about finding my FRIEND."
"No! If we leave him he'll die! Yip yip!"
Aang would NEVER force anyone to do ANYTHING they didn't wanna do, he is TERRIFIED of the uncontrollable power of the Avatar State and NOTHING is more important to him than friendship and his found family since the Air Monks were slaughtered. Smooching with Katara would be the LAST thing on his mind if he thought one of his closest friends had been murdered.....

i love them so much, they were so much for each other, their constant support and love was the key to the end of the war, but also their growth, i literally rewatched it yesterday and i just loved every second of them,

I mean, she definitely still deserved better from the writing team. The fact that we don't hear any of her accomplishments in Korra, which is especially absurd considering she was the most politically driven character in tla, or how she felt about Aang emotionally neglecting HER children is a ridiculous oversight

People forget that Aang didn't have parents.
He was propably trying to emulate what he understood to a certain degree, while trying to also be their for his children. But, at the end of the day, his children all love him, no matter his faults in raising them.
We also have to remember that he, as the Avatar, as the world on his shoulders. There are a lot of people today who find trouble trying to balance home life with work life. Now imagine being the Avatar and having three children.
While I am not defending his neglectfulness, I am merely pointing out some reasons as to explain why he was like the way he was.

I mean that's a great explanation and all, but the problem is that the writers treated Katara like such an afterthought they didn't even think to write into the show how she felt about all this. We can only presume she passively supported the way Aang treated Bumi and Kya, which is crazy because Katara had always exhibited a strong sense of justice when people are being mistreated, but hey, maybe that doesn't apply to her own family? That would actually be okay, it would be an interesting dynamic to explore how Katara failed her kids because Aang was in her blind spot. But the writers don't actually care so the question never gets asked, much less explored

I don't think they include it because it was only really talked about in one episode where they are searching for Meelo. And the story was about Korra and her life and the legacy Aang left on the world.
As to why they treated Katara like an afterthought? I don't know.
I guess they want for the new characters to shine and wanted for Katara, who is probably as old as Gran Gran, to play a very minor role. Most characters from the original show play a very-to-somewhat minor role in Korra, except Aang, which is a given.
It would have been a good addition for what Katara thought about Aang's treatment of his children, but I don't think it was that necessary to the plot of the show, considering we only know Aang was an absent father because of an argument Teznin, BumI, and Kya had in one episode. (Despite them being OLD and still holding onto that fact.)

It wasn't included because the writers didn't think it was important, and yet the way Aang treated his kids has huge ramifications for several main characters that's given plenty of contemplation when discussed. Nothing for Katara, though, not even a throwaway "I guess she wasn't a great mother either". Just a complete non-entity.

Katara literally said if Zuko did anything to hurt Aang in anyway she would hurt him and never forgive him. I get people love enemies to lovers. But in my mind they would never work. They would be to toxic and always fight. I rather Zuko and Katara be friends like they are in the show at the end.
