People of kelowna including mods should know what doxing means.

I thought this was about the woman being harassed by a customer in the drive-through

Another great real world example

Its more about understanding what is and isn't doxing but that is a great real world, local example

It's not the mods of r/kelowna. Reddit's policy on doxxing is app-wide. It should be the admins you call out, not the mods. The mods of r/kelowna are simply following Reddit's TOS the way they're supposed to.

This ... Is.... Not..... Doxing....

Then call out Reddit, not the mods.

The mods said oh this is doxing and removed it. Not reddit.

I bet, if it was left, reddit wouldn't remove it either cause this is not doxing.

It's literally still up on other subreddits.

Some communities are more gung-ho about following all the rules than others.

I mean you can clearly hear his first name and very clearly see his face. You can find out who he is pretty easily by posting those two things on a forum so yeah.. it is kinda doxxing. Maybe not by the dictionary definition but its doxxing adjacent.

You... Are... Bitching... To... And... About... The... Wrong... PEOPLE.

Yikes. Not only is this not doxxing,  these rules are obviously not followed on much larger subs.

Creepy

Agreed with you.

I used to mod a very major sub, and we had debates about these kinds of topics all the time. Doxxing is a serious subject, but having someone's face (and even first name) in a video is not doxxing.

If it was showing their exact address, their place of employment, their children's faces, etc — absolutely, that should be subject to removal.

If it's someone acting like a fool in a public place, then that's on them for showing their whole ass.

Who is upset, I just want to make sure the serious nature of doxing is clearly understood. Reddit didn't remove the post ( and I'm not convinced they would) because this is not doxing

Who is upset

You are. If you're going to take this stand, don't lie about your feelings. If you're not upset, you wouldn't post this.

Not everyone is motivated to action through the act of upsettispaghetti, friend. I hope things improve for you

Nice deflection. I don't believe you. Please be honest in the future.

You arent comprehending.

This did not break any of reddits rules.

What tf would there be to get upset with reddit about??

Why is it still available on many other subreddits if this is so against reddits rules?

Protecting the wrong people here..

Ya this reallly creeped me out. Wtf were the mods doing here? I have a hard time believing they all were unaware of what doxxing meant.

and tbh..even if there was personal information shared about that individual, he was very obivously a threat. Why in fucks name would the mods be so protective of him?

They put in a lot of work repeatedly removing all the videos that kept popping up

This is not doxxing, despite people trying to craft their own definitions.

It is still up on other subs. Not sure what more proof you'd need but clearly reddit doesnt agree with you and this is the choice of the kelowna mods.

The lobby of the building they both live in is actually, the definition of private space like you are trying to use here is not applicable.

For example if a cop was doing sussy shit in th8s same place and you recorded it, it's within your rights to do so and release that video to the public.

Leading to and actual doxing are two very different things. And that's a huge assumption it would lead to doxing. Does posting a dash camera video of a car accident, which happens here all the time, with both drivers in a private space, get removed for doxing?

Theres no expectation of privacy in a apartment hallway accessible to guests, residents, delivery drivers etc.

I am appreciate of the volunteer efforts of mods AND feel like we shouldn't call something that isn't technically doxing, doxing.
