This sounds absolutely insane, and fuck anyone (in particular parents) who is excusing this behaviour as "kids being kids".

u/Logical_Funny6355 2d ago
I was a teacher for 10 years, but the violence and inappropriate behaviour was a big problem at my school. Admin excused the violence every single time. WorkSafeBC agreed with admin that I'm wrong for complaining about violent behaviour: "While I agree that it would be frustrating to continually manage aggressive student behaviour, I do not find that it is excessive in intensity from the regular expectations of your employment as a high school teacher to have to deal with inappropriate and even intentionally aggressive behaviour from teenage boys. Teenagers are not known for their ability to make thoughtful decisions, impulse control, or their ability to recognize that their behaviour is impacting someone in negative ways...I do not find that dealing with them is a significant work-related stressor as defined by law and policy."

It's obvious that these teens are allowed to act this way at home and that their parents allow their children to do whatever they want.

Covert mission. Get friends. Hide on the property. Get dye in a water gun. They show up? Ambush with a rain of coloured water. You’ll know who it was the next day when they have coloured dye all over their face.
41
u/scottdellinger 2d ago
Use the stuff that REALLY stains, too... like the dye they use in exploding packs to identify stolen money.
18
u/JGirlJenn 2d ago
And in a super soaker so when they scoot home, a dye trail is left behind.
31
u/yumeryuu 2d ago
This was actually in a story I read in elementary school. Little assholes causing issues in the night, they were hit by blue dye and it was TOTALLY obvious who did it the next day.
Just ask some smart person here in town to set up a spray system with dye. YouTube it live and voila. Viral. Get paid and pay back.

Yo fuck this shit. Wtf..
Where's the sense of community here?? If this shit was happening in my community you could bet your bottom dollar I'd be there sticking up for my neighbor and camping out on his front lawn at night. I'd take vacation time to do it, I don't care. These kids need a good slap upside the head and several hundred hours of community garbage pickup.
Fucking embarrassing...
And I'm not just saying this either. I've put my money where my mouth is. Some asshat was trying to steal my neighbors truck. Multiple times they stole his wife's car, ditched it around the corner, in order to get it out of the way to get at his truck. Cops wouldn't do anything even with a description, make, model, and partial plate of their getaway vehicle. So I did exactly the above for three nights in a row. Sure as shit the idiots tried to steal his truck. They are now serving time in prison.
Communities need to start working together again to deal with this crap.

The Ben Lee park incident should serve as a reminder that you can only push people so far before they snap.

Ben Lee park incident?

Bunch of kids/teen were harassing someone - someone had enough and ran one of them over with a car.

trespassing is a crime.
loitering/prowling on someone's property between 9pm and 6am near a dwelling.
pick the kids up and tell the parents trespassing can come with a $2000 fine and/or 6 months in prison.
general unsolicited advice: get a no trespassing sign
6
u/enuffalreadyjeez 2d ago
Lots of things are a crime on the books in Canada. But the RCMP and crown simply do not bring charges and do not enforce the law. This is not a serious country.
2
u/Embarrassed-Fly357 2d ago
According to the Kelowna RCMP, trespassing is not a crime.... see my larger comment in main thread.

u/Dry_Hamster2914 2d ago
There is another group of them in Glenmore, they harass people and sit on the edge of their driveways so people can't park in their OWN driveways. When the parents get confronted the parents get aggressive and essentially validate their behavior. I can't speak on the Kettle Valley group, but I've been singled out and called the N word as well as been yelled profanities such as "suck my d***" by the group of 5-15 year olds after I witnessed them trying to run over a family of waterfowl on their bikes and asked them to stop. Its crazy because they think they know their rights. However I won't even walk alone in my neighborhood anymore because tensions are escalating across the city with these kids and its only a matter of time before something worse happens on either end. Herd mentality is taking off

I’m sorry this is happening to you 🥺 I just moved to Glenmore, can you tell me what street this is happening on so me and my kids can avoid?!

I don't understand how the police can't charge these teens with a crime. This harassment and targeting of this family's home has been going on for months.
26
u/eroticfoxxxy 2d ago edited 2d ago
Oh they can manufacture all sorts of charges. We see it all the time when they pad other things. I guarantee you there could be using a motorized scooter without a hemet, using motorized vehicles unsafely, driving them on the sidewalk, etc. They just aren't willing to.
Likely someone knows someone.

The RCMP in Kelowna are beyond lazy, especially when it comes to kids in rich neighbourhoods. They know the parents will cause a shit storm and assume some parents have connections with the city, which they usually do. The cops would rather do nothing than risk a headache of dealing with a pack of rich assholes with nothing better to do.
17
u/jason733canada 2d ago
the lack of RCMP action on this is creating a situation where the dad is going to snap and do something to these kids. we will then see the RCMP jump in to action to arrest and charge the dad with assault for protecting his own family . the system is so broken it is not even funny . no one is there to protect you but if you protect yourself you will get charged.

u/driv3rcub 2d ago
Police unwilling or unable to help victims create vigilantism. Eventually this group of delusional and entitled children will mess with the wrong person and discover what consequences truly are. And no one except for the parents who never loved them enough to instill values into them, will care. ✌🏽

u/Fake_Tracey_Gray 2d ago
Kind of a "swallowed a fly" sense of justice.
There was a young girl, who pissed off her friends
Some kids on their bikes arrived to avengeThere were kids on their bikes who went way too far
some deranged boomer explained what consequences truly areAnd some deranged boomer dreamed of beating up kids
Oh wont the law explain what justice isss ♪♪♪4

This doesn't surprise me. I was being stalked, and RCMP told me they couldn't do anything because I couldn't prove that person was there for me
I was later assaulted, and they asked why I didn't defend myself. Next time, I defended myself, and the guy walked because I couldn't prove he hit me first
All in Kelowna also

u/DependentAble8811 2d ago
In every story I hear about the RCMP in kelowna they sound absolutey lazy
14
u/fluffy_italian 2d ago
They are. They'd rather see women get murdered than deal with paperwork, this is true for pretty much every level

Typical Kelowna privileged kids. Article says “one of the kids is connected to someone in the business community…”

u/jay370gt 2d ago
One day, someone they harass is gonna snap, some of the teens will get hurt or worse, and the their parents will be on the news crying for justice. Like that guy that got run over after his group bear sprayed someone’s kid.
13
u/IngenuityPuzzled3117 2d ago
What a load of shit. On repeat I hear RCMP members making excuses for not doing work that should be done. You’re not trying the case you’re investigating.. do do that! They’ve got the identity of two kids, they can be interviewed, a proper interview would likely result in an identity of all of the youth. There’s a number of criminal offences here that could be considered. I would submit a complaint, ask for a written update on the investigative steps and Foi the file.

If your kids are out riding around the neighborhood, as a parent you don’t have any clue what they’re doing. Tell me yours did at that age and I’ll call you a liar. The kids are definitely not afraid of the police. I support the ambush with dye then post on social media how the perpetrators were marked. Their parents will hopefully see and straighten them out. And a better picture for sure. A trip to OKM and the mystery would be solved. Also, I am betting the teenager in the house has a clue to their identity.

It is disgusting how little the RCMP wants to do with situations like this.
Recently we witnessed a neighbors property being tresspassed upon. An obviously out of place person (homeless/druggie), with a backpack on their front was going in and out of the neighbors back yard, carrying items. I recorded the happenings while on the phone with non-emerg.
RCMP attended in reasonably quick time, caught the pair doing this and questioned them. This is where it got weird.
The RCMP let them go freely, called me back, and gave me absolute attitude, saying that I was out of line for calling, and that entering and leaving "tresspassing" on a residential property is not illegal, and that the persons who were tresspassing had only their own goods, nothing stolen in their backpacks which were worn on the front. Those neighbors have little children!
This was absolutely alarming, and made me question what the authorities actually do, and if vigilante justice will come back due to the incompetence of our system.
No one is scared anymore. Whether it be speeding, drugs in public, trespassing, stealing or harming other persons via assault or worse.
Lived here my whole life - situatuons like this make me want to move away.

i remember back in the day, in Kitimat.. some teens were harrasing an old guy repeatedly. And he blew their heads off with a shotgun. These a-hole parents need to parent their a-hole kids before some one whos a bit unhinged has enough.

u/bloodpickle 2d ago
This actually sounds like a home invasion where they are checking doors and windows .

u/Thrd_Sght 2d ago
When I was in highschool a similar thing happened to me- a group of boys would constantly “ding dong ditch” my house, but it was consistent and loud banging like in this case. After months of sleepless nights I decided it was enough. My mom was mad at me, blaming me for it always happening. I set up a trip wire with fishing line… it stopped after that.

Apparently this is a thing.... Mosquito The Anti-Loitering & Teenager Repellent | Mosquito --- The Mosquito tone device is an ultrasonic anti-loitering solution designed to deter youth gatherings by emitting a high-frequency sound that is particularly irritating to teenagers.
or
Get a bunch of buddies and find out where they live and return the favour. See how their parents like it.
Bang on their windows and doors.
Get some giant tower speakers in the back of a pick up and blast "The Ride of Valkyrie" and 2-3AM or "Baby shark" etc
Get all the Dog shit from your Neighbours and drop it at their front door.
Clearly if these kids get whats coming to them, the homeowner would be the one to get in trouble. (Unless they are willing to put on a mask and wait off their own property.

u/Prompt-Dangerous 2d ago
That is BS! Friggin cops not doing anything until someone is killed. What do they mean by saying it’s not illegal to trespass, that is BS! Hopefully something is done, charge the parents also!

u/rekabis 2d ago
Solution: set up a hydraulic system under each window and to the side of every door that sprays out a dye that cannot be cleaned off of skin. Set that system to fire with excessive vibration of the glass, or if you have a hard surface, to a pressure plate that fires when it gets stood on.
It takes a bit more $ and technical know-how to set up than mere water guns, and you want it to be centrally switchable so you can arm it at night and turn it off when you wake up. But it allows the perps to be flagged even if you're fully asleep when they start. And if you do it well, it’s unlikely to be noticed at night.
And if you have video evidence that bears come around your house and go up to any door or window… there is your excuse to use bear spray, instead. For the bears. Because you have kids and pets, and you don’t want them to be injured or eaten.

It's a shame people don't discipline their kids anymore.

u/Hipsthrough100 2d ago
This single group of kids tells you all people simply don’t discipline kids anymore. It likely ended with you. You’re the last person that knew how to parent…

If the law and those that enforce it are of no use, you must become creative. I can think of a half dozen non-lethal deterrents in the time it took to read the post, some of which would leave visible evidence a teen living at home would have trouble explaining away. They don't fear any repercussions, so it's time for new ones.

I wonder why they're doing it.
12
u/aetherdrake_ 2d ago
Because they did it once or twice and got a strong reaction now they are craving more dopamine, so they keep doing it. It will only escalate one way or another
Also they're undisciplined idiots.
