Banner: division of labour

All right. The basis we are working from is this banner. Various minor modifications are still being discussed, but I think we should give each contributor some freedom in drawing "his" section, rather than endlessly spamming details and trying to get a consensus on absolutely everything.

With that in mind, let's try to divide some tasks. I need volunteers for several different sections. I will update this post with usernames as people pick a section.

Let the volunteering begin!

The deadline for contributions is Friday 23:59 CEST, so don't wait too long with picking a section and drawing it.

/u/midnightrambulador, I finished my parts just in time:

PNG files. Left = normal, right = hover alternate.
Colonials
Bike
Cityscape
reddit logo

Placement for the colonials and bike should be as follows:
Colonials normal (note the allignment of the bridge's rails) | Colonials alt
Bike normal/alt

If anyone wants to colour in the houses in the background; PM me.

sorry but the colonials mouseover won't work like you've planned it because i never know where the bridge is exactly. The offset from the left is completely dependent on the user's screen width.

The bridge is supposed to be part of the minimum banner. Are you sure?

Would it be possible to just have the hover alt (them in the gracht) instead?

OK like this now in the header. That works disregard how wide the screen is.

Nitpick, but I'd remove the bridge railing from your drawing, seeing as they're no longer on the bridge...

I don't know, basically everything but the colours and the houses have been redrawn.

I think it looks a bit weird now. Only the railing on the ront has been drawn over, the railing at the back hasn't been (yet it still visibible). I don't like the fact that the road and the bridges are floating either, there needs to be a canal wall and an actual bridge structure.

I was thinking about that too. A simple canal wall (just a grey stripe between the cycling path and the water) would look a lot better already.

I rather have it the sand-brown-ish colours I used already. The grey and that colour were supposed to look liek a simple canal wall.

Currently it looks really out of place. I did not know there would be water in the foreground, if I knew I would've corrected it myself.

But yes, /u/javacode, the colonials still have a random railing in front of them (both Suriname and Indonesia).

Yes i'm sure and no, the water is part of the background. The hover effect can't be applied to the background.

What would work would be a horizontal gracht at the bottom of the header over the whole width.
