How much points is that roughly?

u/Alone-Kick-1614 May 17 '25
Honestly not sure, tcd website says between 550-580 roughly I think , I did my lc last year and got 557 so ye idk if I got enough or not the points thing is so vague😭

Wish there was more clarity around courses in general. Or even some way to tell you what grades you need to get instead of points or something.

Yess the points system is so confusing especially with the inflation/ deflation in points and grades it's so hard to predict

I'm assuming your going into 6th year or are about to do the LC so, studied everyday from first day of 6th year consistently did 3 hours a day at afterschool study. On weekends I'd do 4-5 hours. After the mocks sometimes 8 hours (with breaks) the time off before the lc, these last 2 weeks I would've studied every day for a full 6-8 hours ( with breaks) and basically covered everything atleast twice .
Edut: it sounds like I did alot but honestly didn't seem like it to me as I was consistent and got into a flow, I also had lots of time to go out and socialise as well as do other hobbies so like yea balance and consistency

I once seen a tik tok and it was a skit of this guy making fun of people who chose to study business in colly. It went like “Drop the cv” “I can’t, I studied business” ( it’s funnier on the tt 😣) Now anytime someone tells me they wanna study business that’s the first thing that comes to mind HABAH

Ayee its so scary thinking of points cuz its so unpredictable with the new courses and deflation but im lc 26 so hopefully it will be down a good bit
1
u/Kyo4ever May 17 '25
Yh the points are literally scaring me so much rn, like im praying that for some reason it won’t be too high. But yh ur lucky cause they are offering double the places next year so it should go down a bit

I’m in a similar boat as you. I was initially going to do animation but apparently there are less jobs and more and more graduates. So I was thinking if doing business but idk if i would even like it, and idk what i should dodosododooo

Personally, after some self reflection. I think I it's smarter to start with animation, meet some like minded people , try your best to establish yourself in the career/network and if it doesn't work out than it doesn't work out and you can pursue business after or even during! You can take an online course alongside animation. Animation can be really useful if you decide to go into marketing side of business or you could pursue something like graphic design, there are TONS of options. Best of luck and lmk when you decide what you want to do!! :))
