Discussion The Future of the Series

I came into ATLA and LoK as an adult so I never had harsh opinons on LoK because I wasnt connected via nostalgia.

With the new Avatar series approaching, people have made it clear on this subreddit that they will be very upset if it destroys Korra's legacy.

I personally like LoK more than ATLA and i'm not jumping to conclusions about Seven Havens and how it will change things until I actually see the show. But I was thinking, if Seven Havens does change the lore in a way that you don't like it- what will you do about it?

Like - will you continiously voice your opinion about it like how LoK haters did/do? Will it drive you away from the series/fandom? I'm genuinely curious.

With LoK it didn't really change Aang's legacy in a way that it needed to be acknowledged. And by that I mean technically fans of ATLA could just pretend like LoK doesn't exist since it doesn't change or distrupts any of the events that took place in the original show. (Ex: Aamg and Katara still ended up together, Zuko was still the firelord ect)

Would this be possbile with Seven Havens if Korra does something to "destroy" the world and/or dies young? Is it possible to just not acknowledge that cannon or would it taint LoK for you completely?

Personally I'd like to think that if I didn't like it I'd just ignore it, and just continue to rewartch LoK over and over again, and stick with my head canon. But I don't know how plausible that is so I'm curious what other people think.

(sorry if this post was all over the place, my mind doesn't make sense to even me)

Discussion Unalaq/Vaatu is officially the most successful Avatar villain of all time Spoiler

Hello Korra fans, here is some awful relevant:

Did it occurred to you that Unalaq is the most successful villain now? He got ALL he wanted:

The world now exists with Spirits and Humans together and the 4 nations are gone now. He is not at the drivers seat, but Korra, if she really is guilty for what happened, HAS done his work with destroying the world.

Even if not, his desire for a more spiritual age came to be, and for that he earned my respect, not even Azula or Zaheer were this successful. He might be considered the worst villain, but no doubt did he win the most, he even severed the connection to all past Avatar, leaving Pavi all alone with Korra.

This is wild, that out of everyone, he got his wish. Incredibe writing here, isn't it.

Discussion Realistically, could Tenzin have defeated the Red Lotus? Why or Why Not? If he could how would that have changed the story?

Okay so this is going to be fun, I had an argument with my brother about this so I thought I should ask you all. Do you believe that Tenzin could've managed to defeat the Red Lotus 4V1?

  • If you think No, explain why.
  • If you think Yes, explain how and what changes to the story this would've made going forward.

Personally: Tenzin could've better used the terrain to make P'Li a non factor, try and keep dragging the fight until he finds an escape plan, specifically perhaps he finds a way to climb the Air Ship P'Li was on to take her down and use it to escape after knocking her out.

This would lead to Zaheer getting extremely frustrated and not caring if Tenzin is the last by blood Airbender Master, he'll be trying to find some plan to kill Tenzin which he may be able to achieve with a plan and to show how truly grown Korra has become, she remembers and puts to use all of Tenzin lessons and to memorize his name for the great person and mentor he was.

Now your turn! Share your thoughts about this.

Question Humans are physically stronger in avatar than us regular humans

You can clearly see that (especially dominators) they have greater physical strength, speed and agility due to constant training,

Example when Korra managed to lift Tenzin and his children alone or when Bumi managed to jump on the mecha tank a height of probably about 2 meters high

Discussion Anyone else feels like a lot of people who dislike LOK genuinely don't know why they hate it?

Honestly hearing stuff about why people hate Korra pisses me off because of how many people who complain that Legend of Korra is nothing like The Last Airbender and I'm like "of course it won't be like it, you want to watch the same show just different masks on the characters?"

I do concede that Korra is not perfect but no man-made story is, and there are certainly good points of criticism to be made about Korra and her story. That being said, most complaints I've heard about LOK are just people complaining about plot points they themselves can't justify why they don't like them.

For example, Korra losing her past lives, that's a thing that on its own can't be criticized because it's a standalone concept, you can't criticize Yuta and Maki relationship from JJK for example with the concept of a Sugar and Ice ship and thus you finding it bad.

I don't like when people bring something like the concept ot technology moving forward drastically as if it's inherently a bad thing without explaining why they don't like them even tho it's the natural conclusion of Metal and Lightning becoming more common forms of bending. Also btw it didn't take that long for our entire way of life to be reshaped by the industrial revolution anyway.

Way too many people tend to criticize Korra for things that by themselves are just abstract concepts who can only be judged through execution, but far more often than not they don't discuss execution, just that the idea itself seems bad to them, and that's because...?

That gets even worse with how people talk about Korra learning 3 elements by the time she's 4 years old, forgetting the fact that she learned all 4 when she's 18 while Aang did when he's 12.

Concrete criticism of Korra is so rare that I find myself wondering how did people come to dislike these ideas just because they so happen to have happened, it's even worse that good criticism of Korra is even harder to find, sure you can make a concrete argument why you don't like the concepts I mentioned but it doesn't matter because all of them boil down to aesthetic taste.

Discussion Amon didn't know how to remove Air Bending?

I was thinking about how incredibly plot convenient it was for Korra to have her bending 'removed' and still at the perfect time become able to air bend.

Could it be that Amon and other chi blockers just didn't know how to chi block airbending since they wouldn't have had any air benders to learn on?

Korra is starting her rookie year in Formula 1, her best friend Asami Sato is her race engineer. Follow along in a story filled with adrenaline and drama, the soaring highs and plummeting lows of motorsports.

"Racing is dangerous, Korra knows this. But it’s the most exhilarating thrill. The feel of the car like an extension of your body when everything is right. Nothing feels better than the G-forces of the car ripping through your body while hugging the turns through esse turns, flicking left and right at 150 miles per hour. Feeling the racing harness holding you back as you slam on the brakes for tight hairpins, feeling the Gs build as you accelerate down the back straight, the intensity of hard fought battles."

Question It's a good thing firearms don't exist yet because the series is very easy to kill the avatar

I know Korra is notably someone with abnormal strength but I don't think she's impenetrable

It wouldn't even need to be face to face, just wait a moment for the avatar to activate the avatar state and that's it, a shot to the head, there would be no dominance that could compete with that

Fan Content Reborn and Afraid (My Art)

With all the excitement fanart and hype for Pavi on the rise, I couldn't help but want to try and add my own messy attempt at fanart to the mix. Though I knida felt a little more inclined towards the angsty side of Pavi fanart but I hope y'all like it anyway...

Based on the notion on the Avatar no longer regarded as a symbol of hope but one of doom and destruction, now believed to herald a wave of terror and upheval should they ever return.

It feels as if that might be the popular belief among the surviving nations including Pavi herself and if so, I can only imagine how distressing it might be for her to later learn that she herself is the reincarnation of that bringer of doom. The Avatar Reborn.

Whether my prediction is right or wrong, I can hardly wait for the new series to be released!

Question Is the avatar power transferred to a baby being born or?

Was just curious, does it transfer once an avatar dies to a baby being born or to someone already alive?
