I'm in the process of reforming a book into a series. For everything to fall into place, the furthest intimacy in Book One is a kiss, while the later books include more mature content.
I've made sure that every intimate moment in Book One is earnedāwhether it's stolen glances, knee brushes, accidental touches, or a kiss.
Still, I can't shake the worry that the slow burn might actually burn out the reader. Would one be patient enough for stronger, more daring intimacy later on?

similar to Kiss of Seduction by Rawnie Sabor and i''ve read all Haley Cass. I want an easy read and somehow clichƩ story, just like ao3 tropes/tags. Could be contemporary, fantasy, historical. Thank you very much!

Hey! Exactly as the title says. I prefer fantasy and I like my books spicy if possible. But I really hate flying so I want a book that really sucks you in, maybe even think about for days or weeks afterwards. So I am okay if it is not fantasy as long as it sucks me in. I currently am reading The Stolen Kingdom and will be done by my flight and I DTA Woman in the Waves. I have included books I have read already.
Extra points if it is also a good audio book or HAS an audio book.
THANK YOU ALL. ā¤ļø

Every couple of weeks, I seem to be a lot more sensitive to those dreaded third act breakups or stressful drama between the main characters. Iām looking for recommendations for books or series that are kind of light hearted / fun but still have spice because my desire for š„ never fades! :D I donāt mind insta love as long as thereās still some heart to it. Preferably books longer than 100 pages.
TYSM!

So I have finished 3 books so far:
Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero
This is a three star read in my case. It was cute, very quick moving at times and fun in parts. At the end of the day it is 100% a Scooby Doo fan fictions, so if that is your thing, check it out. The Sapphic component is rather unrequited, but decent still.
The Sweet Sting of Salt by Rose Sutherland
4 Star probably pushing 4.5 to be honest. I went into this blind, as I did not know the folklore story of The Selkies Wife. I love learning when I am reading for pleasure and the authors notes at the end were very helpful. This one broke my heart in points and gave me such joy in others. I have a feeling this will be one that I will say "I would like to read that for the first time again".
The Next 167 Hours by Christa Hickcox
A comfort reread for me, the Author has a new book coming out at the end of the month so I am getting ready for that. MC Ember, has had possibly one of the roughest years of her life. Rather begrudgingly she listens to her sister and starts seeing a therapist. the 167 hours represents the hours between her appointments. My pull to this book is always bc Ember is quirky and awkward and I tend to see parts of myself in her. 5 Star Read for me :)
What are you reading?

Hey everyone!
So I am having this sudden craving to read a book which has a lot of flirting, banter, teasing (you get the vibe).
I would love if it also has angst and pining in it, along with the femme x femme pairing but yeah those are not compulsory.
I don't really mind any tropes but my favourite is friends to lovers, second chance, enemies to lovers. But yeah I want the books to be spicy and contemporary.
Thank you!

"Jane's leaning against a pole (...) and it's just... hope. August looks at her, and hope blossoms like crepe myrtle blossoms between her ribs. Like fucking flowers. How absolutely mortifying.."
ššš
My goodness!! I've finished this book months ago and I still haven't gotten over it. "One last stop" took me on a roller coaster of emotions, i cried twice and i thank Casey McQuiston for it. I fell inlove with Jane and August, along with their found family in that chaotic new york apartment.
I really took my time on this one (in between work) and poured love on it as much i can. I hope y'all love it as much as I do š„°
Art process will posted on my instagram @dounia.raniela
Thank you for those who commented on my last post and cheered me on š„¹ i wish nothing but for the queer community to thrive and make more art! š

Ok, Iāll start. Iāve fallen in love with all of Gerri Hillās books. She has that rare talent of pulling you right into the story and the world she creates, almost from the very first page. Iām almost done reading every single one of her novels, and even though Iāve enjoyed some Jae and Harper Bliss too, Gerri Hill still remains my favorite by far. If anyone has suggestions for authors with a similar style or talent, Iād love to hear them.

The lay of you by Corrie Mackay Review
I picked up the lay of you as a pallet cleanser, I didnāt really think anything of it and I went into it pretty blind. I AM FLOORED BY HOW MUCH I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK. The writing is soooo good I didnt even realize I read over 100 pages, I got so invested so quickly. I just love how you know what direction the author wanted to take with this story and she executes it so well and effortlessly. Like Iām not losing brain cells trying to read this book𤣠I am not done yet but I canāt wait to read the second book EXCITED KAY KOš¤

I realise that seems passive aggressive but Iām really struggling to find my next read. I keep reading the first few chapters and nothing is grabbing me. Maybe itās a me thing.
I just finished Tangled Threads (thank you Reddit friend for the rec) which was pretty good.. the phrase ātheir breath hitchedā was said about 45 times too many, but I still enjoyed it. Might read the next instalment in the series but Iām not obsessed enough with the characters. The chemistry at the beginning of TT was amazing though, it just died pretty quickly.
I tried Bloom Town. Nope.
Things I love: well written spice, enemies to lovers, forbidden love, obsessive love, romance, some erotica is fine⦠femme/femme, lawyers, cops, hot femmes that drive an SUV. Slow burn, amazing sexual chemistry.
Things I donāt love: ridiculous / cringe spice, books where the MC is pining over their ex boyfriend, really dark/messed up storylines (loved The Lay of You, couldnāt stomach The Depth of You)

[SPOILERS AHEAD]
I just finished Bloom Town: Genesis after getting it recommended a bunch and I must say Iām not that impressed. I have very mixed feelings about it and Iām wondering if Iām the only one in that boat?
Anyone else in here that wasnāt impressed?
Letās talk critique!
The biggest cons for me: - I knew it was a Bly Manor fanfic before it became Bloom Town and that the character names got changed. I really did not like Bly Manor, so I guess this threw me off a lot. I really tried making up my own characters in my head, but it was impossible with how exactly the same the characters acted and were, given how itās a fanfic.
A lot of the themes were very much on the nose. Instead of making the themes more complex, they tended to fall one-dimensional, without depth and be superficial. A lot of it was cartoony and simple. This mostly goes for Abbyās Christian family and a lot of the meetings with people outside of Wry.
The language threw me off. English is not my native language, so maybe this observation is wrong, but the extensive use of āfuckā, āfuckingā and other more modern terms took me out of the setting. I know Joey is supposed to be crude and straightforward, but there are other ways to do this so it fits the historical context. I feel like the curse words would have also hit harder if they werenāt used all the time. I think this would have been an amazing opportunity to research some real slang from that period and place and try and implement that instead.
Another point with language is the way Joeyās speech is written. I donāt understand why it all has to be written in an accent, when we have already established that Joey is English. We know she has an accent. I get writing it a bit differently, but it was very excessive, almost comical imo.
What I enjoyed was that the story was interesting. It made me wanna read more and even tho I donāt like who the characters are based on and all aspects of them, they still grew on me in the end.
I did enjoy the nsfw in this book and it was quite refreshing to see a lesbian romance be so graphic. My whole life Iāve been used to āhand holding is the farthest it will goā in lesbian media, so it was fun to read something steamy and sexy. Tho a lot of the speech took me out of the moment. I wish the dirty talk had been implemented better and, again, that the speech reflected the time period they were in.
There were moments where I did get teary eyed and felt the feelings along the characters. I will probably read the second book to see how it all ends even tho I didnāt enjoy a lot of the things in the first one. The small pockets of very intimate, interesting and well-written moments makes it enough for me to continue (I think).
