Travel from Germany to Liechtenstein

Hey,

I’m really interested in visiting microstates and would love to go to Liechtenstein. I’m currently in Frankfurt am Main and wanted to ask: what’s the best way to get there?

I’ve checked the DB app, but the options aren’t very clear.

Hello Everyone!

I hope you're all doing well. I'm a student from Singapore, and I enjoy collecting postcards as a personal hobby. I would love to receive postcards from Liechtenstein!

If you’re able to send one, I’d be truly grateful. If postcards aren’t available, a greeting card or even a small souvenir like a keychain, flag, cap, handicraft, magnet, T-shirt or local snack would also be wonderful.

Please feel free to comment below if you’re able to help, and I’ll message you my mailing details.

Thank you so much in advance! Wishing you all the best, and sending warm regards from Singapore!

🇸🇬🤝🇱🇮

Pictures Hoi Liechtensteiners! Dutch teen here who loved my two-day visit to your country, here are some pictures I took and some things I’m curious about…

  • First of all, the country is absolutely stunning, it felt like stepping in a Playmobil box cover (if you know what I mean), the streets are amazingly clean and the nature breathtaking.
  • I was surprised by the modern buildings, I expected more of the typical Alps-houses but this was also interesting. When were these architectural decisions taken?
  • I saw a couple large groups of elderly Korean tourists, how did they end up in the least visited country of Europe?
  • We had a lovely chat with the Swiss bus driver, she told us she liked Swiss people more and described Liechtensteiners as icebergs, what do y’all think about that? ;)

Thanks in advance for your comments, I’ll try to answer all of them and of course you can ask me everything.

Trying to manage salary expectations

Hello everyone,

I’m a mid-30s structural engineer (PhD, EU citizen) with 7 years of professional experience and native-level German. Most of my career has been in the railway sector, plus a year in engineering consulting in Aargau.

After taking a sabbatical last year, I’m now interviewing for a design engineering role in my field. I’m interested in the position but uncertain about appropriate salary expectations in Liechtenstein.

From my research, Lohnrechner Liechtenstein suggests that the bottom quartile salary limit for a master’s-level engineer in Liechtenstein is around CHF 7,500 per month (≈CHF 90k/year), with 25% earning less.

Although a PhD isn’t required for this position, it’s indirectly relevant as well. I also have some experience with some norms required to work in this position.

I’m financially stable, but long-term unemployment is wearing on me. I see this job as a potential Sprungbrett to Mittelland or a major city in 1-2 years. Liechtenstein isn’t my ideal place to live—I’m more of a city person—but the current opening seems solid.

When asked about salary, I’d like to ask for at least CHF 90k. If this were Ostschweiz, I’d aim for CHF 100k; in Mittelland, CHF 110–120k (though that hasn’t been met by any company for so far, apparently I am not experienced or skilled enough).

I’d love your feedback:

  • Am I undervaluing myself too much by targeting CHF 90k?
  • Is it realistic to move from LI to roles nearer Zurich or Basel later?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

What would be Liechtenstein's most iconic and beloved song?

I would like to make a playlist containing one iconic and defining modern song (1950 to 2009) for every country in the world.

What would be your pick for Liechtenstein? Preferably in German and I'd prefer no national anthem or meme/novelty songs.

Here is a song I wrote about the beautiful country of Liechtenstein. I even titled my first full length album after it!

Hello amazing people from Liechtenstein. My name is Jocelyn and I am a musician from Canada.

In 2023 I got married and I spent my honeymoon vacation traveling Europe along with my husband John. During our stay in the Old Continent we visited several countries, including Liechtenstein. Needless to say, I quickly fell in love with it as soon as I found myself there!

The Alpine scenery, its castle, the sense of peace and tranquility, the clean streets, the kind folks, the charming villages, the hiking trails, the wine… Should I go on?

Because both my husband and I are musicians, we wrote songs as we were visiting abroad. I wrote one about Liechtenstein as well, and I would love for you to listen to it. The track is actually sung by a friend of mine, Joseph Stone, who is an opera singer from Toronto.

But that’s not all. This song even is the title of my first full-length album, which was released today. That is a further testament to how much I loved your country, and I am looking forward to getting back there when I can.

In case you want to read the lyrics to the song, you can find them here.

If you’re curious about the rest of the album and would like to listen to it, check it out on Spotify or on Youtube.

That’s all! Thanks for being amazing, Liechtenstein. You were small, but GRAND!

-Jocelyn

Parkhauz Zentrum, Vaduz

We are going to visit Vadus for a half day. And thinking to park our car here in Parkhauz Zentrum. I read in the review that it is maximum 3 hours? Do I have to get out before 3 hours? Is there good alternative car parking near there?

Thanks.

For example, if I want to live there and I don't speak German, only English, is that a problem?

how to stay cheaply for one night in Liechtenstein?

Hey guys, is there a cheap way to spend a night in Liechtenstein? A cheap hotel or hostel perhaps? Or someone who would let us stay overnight? We are currently doing a challenge where we try to hitchhike through europe with as little money as possible.

I collect license plates from around the world and I recently bought a 1977 Liechtenstein export plate. I know the front plates are 30x8cm and rear ones are 50x11cm. However my plate is 44x11cm.

Does anyone know if this is a front or a rear plate and why are the dimensions diffrent?
