Same thing with other shows/books/any other media.
People even say that cyberpunk as a genre is bad because of the sexualization and objectification of women. Like, what? It is just the opposite, the writers did a great job of showing cool and brave heroines.
And if the franchise setting is about one man fighting rogue robots, will such people still be able to find their own way to virtue signalling? Sure, they'll say we should stop sexualizing... those curvy robot teammates!
As someone who's been part of the Western anime fandom since the 90's... There was never a time when a self-professed lolicon wouldn't have been mocked or seen as a fucking weirdo.
I mean, power to you, Honestly. I think it's fucked up but there's a lot of things I think are fucked up and there's likely things that I like/believe folks would think is fucked up. As long as you don't bring shit into the real world, it's ultimately victimless.
My issue is 100% with the idea that it's a "new issue", because of "virtue-signaling" when it isn't.
