Discussion What Should the Gameplay Be Like in the New Mafia Game?

Are you asking what we expect it to be? I expect the story driven missions in a few small villages and a town, there seems to be a big emphasis on knives and close combat, guns are still in play. There is gonna be a romance, a revenge and possibly a plot twist. There is driving cars, riding horses. Not much more I know.

I think it should take heavy inspiration from Mafia 3’s gameplay, which had very few flaws. For me TOC doesn’t need to reinvent the series’ gameplay, but it should build on the foundation 3 set, while making major improvements in key areas like animations, gunplay, combat, and driving—and from what I’ve seen so far, the gameplay looks like it’ll deliver exactly that.

I'm probably swimming against the current here, but I would like an open world game, with side quests and other things to do. Mafia 3 but better, way better, more customization, more fluidity.

I'd expect the same narrative structure and "open world" gameplay comparable to Mafia Definitive Edition.
