Question Do Concept Mixtapes exist?
Imagine a concept album, but it's a mixtape. Do these type of mixtapes exist? Cause I'm making a concept album (I've already made some beats) but rn the only type of beats that come to mind is sampled beats, and I can't spend any money for this project.

Yes they exist. There really is no hard distinction between an album and a mixtape anyway. It is whatever you call it.

Kind of. First one that comes to mind is KIDS. Not exactly a story from beginning to finish but it’s a centralized focus on a particular subject based off of a movie.

Yes. But they are generally called albums.
The term 'mixtape' gets thrown around a lot. I'm older so a mixtape is a compilation of other people's tracks you make yourself on a cassette. The phrase has lost all meaning now honestly.

Pirata by Wun Two is a pretty cool concept beat tape.
Has a full child's story narrated by Ugly God through out the tracks

I love conceptual albums/mixtapes! Made a few myself too. They can be about/sound like anything you want.
I’ve done a few myself too, for example:
- Jewels, a beattape about gems, thievery and riches
Wayside Trails, about hiking trekking and nature in general
Noctua & Cuts, both Halloween tapes
winter bumps, everwhites & Chambéry, all of them winter related
Currently working on one about prehistoric life, hunter-gatherers.
Music doesn’t have clear rules, so make it about that you want/certain sound you like

Im releasing "beat tapes" it is part of the old school hip hop culture. From when people passed them around by hand to the "digital" version now

Make whatever you wanna make, there is no rules. Did soul samples exist popularly before KanYe? No. Did he care. No. Just like he did, you can also do what you want, and who knows, maybe you’ll change hip hop?

Brother, soul samples existed popularly before Kanye. The way he flips samples is uniquely Kanye but tons of early 90s hip hop used soul samples because that's what most producers grew up listening to and access to through their parents records.

I meant the way he uses them, not that they didn’t exist, i poorly worded it tho, thanks g

He popularized the sped-up “chipmunk” sample sound. That’s probably what you’re referring to.

Captain Murphy might have the greatest concept "mixtape" ever. It's called Duality.
If you love MF DOOM and Flying Lotus (Hint Hint) you'll love this.
It's one of my goat mixtapes due to its concept and the samples and songs that really help solidify the theme and echo it through the whole project.
