Most of them are old people...

They don't care about the country's accumulating debt because they're not the ones who will have to pay it.

They don't care about the hardships that young people buying their first residence have to face because they were given a a free house by Mintoff back in the day.

They don't care about Ta Qali because their entertainment is not going to Ta Qali but listening to lunatics on Super 1.

The problem is people still keep on voting the same party and it seems like this country is stuck in this loop.

It wont change under PN. Between inhouse bickering and playing the blame game on the previous administration - maltese politics is for the rich and developers while the rest of us wade around in shit and concrete.

Downvote all you want but i would like to know why you disagree

I did not downvote and will not, everyone has the right of an opinion, however, with that thinking we can just become a one party dictatorial system. I know PN did a lot of shit and they paid for that in 2013 when JM who is an undeniable charismatic leader took main stage. Obviously we all know what followed. With the amount of power the current government has, I think the PN will always look and sound like the underdogs especially with the mass propoganda against them constantly being fed to the people. Are the PN perfect, definitely not, did they do mistakes? Yes they did and most probably will do. But this time I think i am willing to choose them over the current government if they start doing this shit then I will be the first one to vote them out of government. But we cannot keep on saying theyre the same when now they havent been in power for 12 years. We need to give a chance. And honestly as much as I love 3rd Parties, I really dont think these parties have enough manpower or even will and maturity to govern, especially when you see certain third party leaders that act and say dumb stuff.

I was not directly addressing you but thanks for the reply - oh i definitely agree with you. I like to think i use my common sense when i vote, listen to debates, proposals, potential candidates and where they stand on items which may impact my family and me - lets not kid ourselves "I" come first. i have voted for both parties and smaller parties over the years. What they propose and what/how they never align with what they promise, generally speaking. Then its transparency out the window and false promises and literally buying votes. Nothing to do with anything but take a look at ta qali picnic area, what in the everlasting fuck where they thinking.

Agreed, however I notice the same two-party issues in your comments. In the sense that it is not just one party who has to be "elected" and govern. While a 3rd party will not, and honestly should not (due to lack of experience and finances) hold a majority, a large enough representation from them can potentially break the incompetence/corrupt deadlock we're at currently.

The PN are soooo bad that Delia is running for leader again. What a joke! No one deserves my vote!

The exact mentality that maintains the status quo.

Whats the option. Voting for a party that will ruin the country through incompetence?

I lived the best times of my life under the PN. I graduated and quickly found a job. With the humble salary I had, I could aspire to buy a house with a garage in a couple of years (costed a mere 230k at that time).

Fast forward to "l-aqwa zmien", the country is overpopulated and congested. The typical employee can hardly afford to rent an apartment, let alone buy a house. So give me the incompetent government over the competent one anytime.

Besides, PN is not the only option. You can vote Momentum or AD. Now if you find issue with all potential options, then perhaps the problem is you not the rest of the world.

Yes thats why they are reffered to as "gahan" - even those voted in by these so call ""gahan" know they are the way they are. Sal mewt guz.

Old people are becoming a liability to our future with who they support and what they approve of.

It's literally like the locals hate trees and grass

1

u/rccola_19 2d ago

I missed it, what happened now?

8

u/Consistent_Taro_825 2d ago

They basically covered the grass area with gravel because apparently in spring and summer the dust generated from the dead foliage and exposed soil was a nuisance to park goers 🤦

7

u/rccola_19 2d ago

I really hope 'park goers' doesn't mean tourists cause I swear to dog this disneyfication bullshit is making my blood boil

5

u/Which-amata_witu 2d ago

Why would tourists want a park gravelled over? Nothing to do with tourists.

2

u/rccola_19 2d ago

That's why I said I hope not. But who complains about dust blowing about in the middle of nowhere. Entitled idiots I imagine. Same people who complain that everything isn't an idyllic Instagram image.

Tbh I severely doubt anyone complained and it's more likely an excuse to stick a parking lot there so no one has to walk more than 20 yards for a picnic

1

u/Ok-Rooster562 1d ago

Honey i dont think tourists would be wanting to visit ta qali on their holiday to malta. It’s put of the way and, before they added gravel, was a dump regardless.

2

u/rccola_19 1d ago

Ha! It is the place where you accidentally get off the bus before Mdina and go; 'Oh dear, I'm now in a desert and that stray cat has taken the only piece of shade'

3

u/Which-amata_witu 2d ago

Can someone explain to me like I’m a 6 year old how putting gravel and sand on something will reduce dust?

Honestly, this action in Ta’Qali is one of the just down right stupidest things I have ever seen a council or a government do in any part of the world I have lived in.

Turning one of the only parks we have into a wasteland.

Shame on those or allowed this and shame on us who let them do it.

Governments should remember that before we had democracy to ensure the voice of the people was heard, we had the guillotine.

1

u/seonage59 1d ago

That is pure bullshit. The reasons soil was covered with gravel are a) so that someone with a lot of gravel to spare gets a slice of the pudding while someone else gets a substantial commission b) plans are in progress to develop Ta Qali as a national huge conference venue so the bigger the parking area the better.

4

u/Jaseto88 2d ago

They turned the grass area into gravel and sand

0

u/rccola_19 2d ago

Like I needed to ask. Tbf there isn't much gravel and sand in Malta so definitely what the people want more of

1

u/Serenelol 1d ago

thought it was ai at first. disgrace. photos search for jasob micallef post around end june

1

u/Thegoodreason45 1d ago

Probably that material comes from construction waste.

1

u/Muttley-888 1d ago

Went to TaQali park after it was recently covered with gravelly dusty sand and these remote control dune buggies were driven around and raised HUGE dust clouds.. And yet Jason Micallef swears that come Spring the grass will come through.

u/gohardlikeabull 1d ago

While many people are angry, the majority are happy. Something must be going right, if they keep voting labour. Could be the case the PN is not seen as a valid option. Could this be the right time for a serious alternative party to challenge?
