Want to rent a car in Sicily , any suggestions?
Hey all!
First time heading to Sicily not using my car, can you suggest which rental companies that are reasonable and if better go direct with them or through a website? Also normally people say do do full coverage insurance when you are there is this something that applies to Sicily aswell?
Landing Catania Airport.
Thank you all!

So by plane and not by ferry? Which airport?

This is like pulling teeth.
How many days, are you leaving from Catania too, are you over 25.
My recommendation is to go for a multinational hire car lkke hertz avis etc. Take the full insurance because Sicilian drivers are the worst

We’ve rented cars from Skarent about 3-4 times (always from Pozzallo, but they have outposts at Catania airport I think). It’s always been fine, although we always pay the max insurance. We also video the car from all angles and check the forms carefully to see that they’re indicating properly all/ any damages the car might already have. My fiancé just usually books via whatsapp.

Definitely get full insurance to cover everything. I've had companies try charge us for damages; luckily, when we received the car, it was in a total mess (with stains everywhere and scratches) and we immediately took pictures of every single detail of the car.
They tried charging us for all the damages and even after showing the pictures, they threatened us, thankfuly, we were able to come to an agreement, but it was a nightmare. Since that time, we just get full insurance that covers everything, it will be cheaper in the long run and keep your mind rested from any unwanted stress.
This was in Italy btw, not Sicily, but this could happen anywhere in the world.
