Where to stay that is peaceful?

I get the sense from this sub that Valleta is noise-polluted thanks to partying tourists and badly-insulated accommodation. As a sound sensitive person, it’s really put me off my original plan of visiting in October. But can anyone confirm or deny this? Or does anyone have any peaceful recommendations?

Valletta isn't thaaaaat noisy, it really depends on the area.  Avoid strait street and merchants street

Mdina is the silent city. Check information on that. No cars but they do have restaurants and bars I think.

Many places are noise polluted, but Valletta is not so bad in the residential parts, so depends where.

In October a lot of the tourism slows down

Even in the smallest villages there is noise pollution, mainly caused by but not limited to the gas-, supermarket-, or breadvan, the drivers beeping before every corner and mums shouting at their children.

In October the tourism slows down and we don't get the same kind of tourists that plague the summer months.

It will be less noisy but that's not saying that your stay in Malta wouldn't be noisy. Being one of the most densely populated countries, you shouldn't set up any expectations.

Even it the quieter villages you might get a noisy neighbour that invites the whole extended family over for dinner and they stay chatting till 1am, let alone the bigger towns.

Malta is noisy, also because of mass tourism. It’s not for you.

You could rent a quiet farmhouse in a rural area.

This does depend on your budget though, as obviously this would be more expensive. It would also mean you would need to rent a car or get taxis everywhere.

You could also consider staying on Gozo, obviously much more difficult to see the Malta sights then.

If your main concern is night time noise for sleeping since you'd probably be out during the day then Valletta is probably fine (though I have to say I never personally stayed in Valletta). It's dead at night there 99% of the time. It is one of the more expensive places to stay at in Malta however.

There are some nice hotels in the 3 cities area which is also fine noise wise I think.

There are definitely places in Malta where there is no noise and peaceful nights every night - but I’m keeping that to myself.

For peaceful, go to a functioning city, like Switzerland or Germany. They have proper insulation.

I moved to Malta and I am noise sensitive. I deeply regret my choice although it's good tax wise. Can't wait to hit my target and gtfo. I hate this country. I don't recommend, there is soooo much better for vacations ........ consider another place. u gonna spoil your finances and peace of mind here ....... be warned
