It's hard to hate this country (outside of politics and a select few people).

Home automation startup 😊

Hey everyone,

We’re a small local startup just getting our foot in the door with smart home setups. To kick things off, we’re offering a 30% discount on labour and software setup while we build up our experience and portfolio.

Basically, if you’ve ever wanted to: • turn your lights on/off with your phone, • get alerts if a door/window opens, • monitor your electricity use in real time, • automate your AC or heating so you don’t waste energy, • or even set up little “routines” like lights dimming + music starting in the evening…

…we can set it all up for you. Everything is fully custom, and you’ll be able to control it all from one app, whether you’re home or abroad.

We’re not some big company charging crazy prices — just a couple of people who are into this stuff and want to make smart homes more accessible in Malta. The discount is our way of saying thanks to anyone who’s willing to give us a shot while we’re still getting established.

If you’re curious, drop a comment or DM and we can chat about what’s possible.

Visiting in last week of september

Hello,

Im coming to Malta for the first time, for a week. I read and looked for every beaches and attractions so we'll adjust to visit most of them. We'll be on the edge of san gwann, is there anything we should look about, how's the city, neighborhood? One friend really dont like insects, should we worry about cockroaches or something similar, we are on ground floor, and if yes how to prevent it. Paper money or Phone pay?

All advices are helpful. Thank you in advance.

Does anyone know where I can buy here here on the island? Been buying it in the uk whenever I travel but the prices are insane now.

I looked up ways to reconstitute it myself but I am not willing to do that unless there is none on the island I could buy. Heard that some prices here in the island are 400+ euros which is insane.

Where to stay that is peaceful?

I get the sense from this sub that Valleta is noise-polluted thanks to partying tourists and badly-insulated accommodation. As a sound sensitive person, it’s really put me off my original plan of visiting in October. But can anyone confirm or deny this? Or does anyone have any peaceful recommendations?

Pueblo tobacco in duty free shop?

Does anyone know if the duty free shop at the airport sells Pueblo rolling tobacco (or American Spirit, which is doubtful)?

Thank you in advance!

I've been hearing a lot of rumours as of late about Sac like is it true that some people are paid into SAC? so does that mean that the point system is made up? And there's actually stupid people? Overall whats your take on this , if you know anything about this.

Short let while waiting for my lease.

Coming to Malta a little before my long term let begins. What sites are best for finding a place to rent for anywhere between 2-6 weeks until I begin my long term lease?

Thanks

Malta Airshow question

What's in your opinion the best spot for viewing the airshow? 2 years ago I was by the Selmun Tower and I'm wondering if there's a better experience if I went somewhere in St. Paul's Bay.

What's the most bizarre situation you've encountered recently?

I'll start. Got stuck in a queue behind two Americans confronting a bemused cashier, who were demanding to know where the bottled water had come from.

This was in Hamrun btw. We only drink brake fluid here

Epic Fiber Internet: The Worst Internet Company Ever in Malta

Just this week this happened: https://www.reddit.com/r/malta/s/Q1uedOh2Kc and I solved the problem with Reddit folks.

Now the internet is went down completely.

Chat support says it needs to wait Monday.

No compensation.

Im in the first week of my contract but if I want to cancel the contract I need to pay €500 as a penalty fee. There is no cooling off period because I did the contract in store.

The best part is my neighbor use Epic and they have internet.

WHAT A JOKE!!!

Grand Hotel Excelsior

Can anyone help with advice. I stayed at the grand hotel excelsior Malta in March 25, with my mum. We had a harbour view on the 8th floor. Absolutely loved it. We are returning in a few weeks and taking my dad and my nice with us. We have booked a interconnecting family room. I have just discovered that these rooms are on level 1, on the pool side, and have read reviews saying terrible rooms, no view at all. Has anyone stayed in these family rooms and had a gorgeous view. Im worried the my dad and nice are going to have the same experience that we got on floor 8 in March. Thank you
