Private party.
Rumor as posted by the downvoted comments is that it was related to undercooked yam which can cause a cyanide type poisoning picture but none of that's been confirmed
Shame as I've eaten at Dosa Kings before and had a really nice meal and can easily forsee this doing serious harm to the business.

So unfortunate…. As they seem like such a good business. Mistakes happen and I think this is just one of those situations that shouldn’t have happened, but equally can easily happen if the kitchen was busy and they’re doing a lot of things at the same time or if there was a new person in the kitchen etc. Hopefully they’d just learn from it and people will give them another chance!

A bunch of customer were poisoned by undercooked or improperly cooked yams. Causes an immediate on set of quite worrying symptoms.

Has it been confirmed that it was due to improper cooking? It's important to mention that there's also the possibility that their supplier sent them the wrong yams - some yams are naturally poisonous, and a misidentification could lead to poisoning regardless of the cooking.
I don't know what's happened, but as a chef I'm cautious of asserting fault to the kitchen until we know more - such assumptions ruin careers, and businesses.

I suspect that's why it's not come out yet, the facts need to be established as it could easily end that business which may be unfair. It was a private party too, there's a possibility that the food was brought in and the space was just used as a venue.

This is very shocking!! My friends and I were to go on Saturday for their Onam Sadhya and had reservations too until the plan was changed last minute!! I feel really bad for all those folks and I hope everyone is feeling much better now.

From a friend that was one if the diners “It seems to have been a toxin from wild yams called calcium oxalate raphides. Very painful, instant onset of needle-like sharp pain, numbness, and sadly for some swelling of the tongue and throat and difficulty talking too. For a while it was quite scary! The road was shut because paramedics didn't initially know what was happening to so many diners simultaneously, and the fire service needed to run toxicology on the food to rule poisoning or any other issue. I'm still in 1/10 pain to the 10/10 that struck 7 hours ago during lunch, and very relieved that it's not an allergic reaction per se, more just an acute physical response to the toxin. Grateful our healthcare service responded so robustly! I'm a mix of sad for the restaurant crew and a bit disappointed too, but the waiter that came outside chuckling to take snaps is in the sin bin for sure!”
