JW Lees can't make JW Lees beer, so I'm not giving this much hope.

The problem with lees's is it doesn't travel well, most pubs don't allow it to settle before tapping.

But they run most of their pubs.

I get when you get a shit cask of Sonoma in a free house that it's not Tracks fault but Lees own their pubs, they should know how to manage their own beer and yet the worst pints I've ever had have always been in Lees pubs.

Oh I agree, this is why I will only go to certain pubs of theirs.

I'm hoping that they do a better job then they do with their own lager.

Also on in Circus Tav. Much rather have a pint in there for a reasonable price than that Founders Hall

£3.80 in my local in Oldham, the fox and pine.

There is a MEN article but I'm not posting it as I hate reach media.

Locals BLAST new beer

A photo of the actual pint rather than beer mats would be nice

I can't wait to see if it compares to the original of my misspent youth.

Every time I ordered a pint of boddies in the 1990s ruddy faced men would materialize telling me it's crap compared to how it was before Whitbread took over. Is this the pre Whitbread recipe?

No idea sorry, tastes good though

To be fair, it wasn't as good as the original (pre-1989) brew.

Not sure if the new one is using the original or the Whitbread version.

Just found a post on Facebook and it does appear to be the Whitbread cream of Manchester Melanie Skyes era.

I've never had a pint of J W Lees I've enjoyed to be honest. Always found it tepid with a bit of an unpleasant aroma. its alright when you are already 7 pints in and will drink any alcoholic beverage whatsoever.

I’m probably missing something… was Boddies gone?

No, but it was being brewed outside of Manchester and was served in Kegs rather than on Cask

Oh dear I quite like it served a little cooler from the keg. Haven’t had it cask in years though I’ll need to give it another try.

Thanks for clearing it up!

Marble Brewery's Pint is based on the original Boddingtons recipe. Always been a favourite of mine.

Are they bringing the TV ads back too?

Ridiculous a Manchester company making a Manchester beer with a Manchester brand has to do it “under licence” from a huge Belgian corporate machine.

Best of luck to JWL though 🍺

I know that when the brewery shut one of the local breweries took on the keg but not cask. I think it was Robinson's but not sure it wasn't Hyde's. How it became inbevs I'm not sure.

It's on in Founders Hall, Albert Square, in the centre. I imagine a lot of people will be trying it but not sure whether it will be a novelty thing or a lasting success

I have a dark & offensive joke about this. Does anyone want to hear it?
