Help for a date
I’m not from Manchester but this girl I’m planning on meeting is. Could anyone give me some ideas for a fun activity/activities near to Salford?

It would help to know what both of you are actually into. Do you have any shared interests?

The Skiing place is called Chill Factore - it's not that close to Salford to be fair, but it's a good idea for a date.
Maybe try Flight Club in Manchester, or Junkyard Golf?

You can walk into Manchester from Salford. Or get the bus or tram. Salford doesn’t really have a centre (you wouldn’t go there on a date). Go to Roxy ball room, junk yard golf or the IMAX screens in Printworks are some of the best around.

Trafford Centre maybe. That indoor skiing place is nearby, can't remember the name of it though. The Trafford Centre has allsorts to do

If it's a day date you could go to the pug cafe?

This place has the worst reputation for animal welfare. If a guy took me there it would be a huge red flag.

Oh really? I haven't heard anything about that, do you have any links or anything? The pugs all seemed happy and healthy to me, one was a bit snorty but she was a rescue so probably from a questionable breeding situation.

No links specifically relating to this place, my friend who just LOVES pugs went on a rant about it at work when someone brought it up.
Each to their own, but horror stories about these places in general make me think that no respectable animal lover would visit one. That includes puppy yoga as an absolute NO.
So yeah, risky first date unless you know how someone feels about them.

Oh, so the "reputation for the worst animal welfare" comes from...one friend of yours who once went there. Got it.

No, she didn't even go there because it has a reputation for welfare issues without even needing to step through the door, which she knows because SHE researched it as she has a pug and you are allowed to take your own pug there (I haven't looked to see if that is still the case). She told us about it a long time ago, so apologies if I can't recall the exact reason this particular place is awful. Something to do with where they get the dogs from and how they are housed when they aren't in the cafe comes to mind, but I honestly don't fully recall.
I accept there is a market for it for people who just think it is cute, so fill your boots if you must. It's not MY first date after all!
These places in general are NOT for true animal lovers. Just a modicum of research will tell you that a lot of these places often have stressed animals, often taken from rescue centres with no concern for their background and how they might feel in an environment being used for entertainment, and often dehydrated so they don't want to pee and make the places smell bad. Particularly so with puppy yoga type places because they don't want the dogs peeing around people doing yoga.
It doesn't really matter to me if you don't care or don't believe it. Each to their own.

Yeah, it's on chapel street. I went a couple of weeks ago, it was very fun.

100% recommend this. Plus its only an hour, and theres a couple of coffees shops and bars nearby if you want to hang out a bit longer

There’s a couple of bars and restaurants in Salford Quays. Alternatively hop the tram into town.

As a Salfordian the funnest thing to do in Salford is leave.
