Can anyone recommend a function room for about 10 people?

I've been searching for months for a venue for just a small birthday party and getting nowhere. The number we have just seems too small for renting out private rooms in most places in town. I'd prefer to be able to bring outside food but I'm happy to pay for the room hire and/or a bar tab or if they did buffets that'd be fine too. Preferably in town but I don't mind say south Manchester. It doesn't even need to be a whole room since it's only 10 of us, just somewhere at least semi private and relatively cosy. Any help is really appreciated ❤️

ETA: it's on a Sunday and everywhere seems to just be doing roasts which is not the vibe unfortunately, so preferably somewhere where we don't need to order that

henry c in chorlton would be perfect for this! they have a small back room that you can book- they let you bring in outside food and you just have to pay a £50 deposit which goes onto a bar tab

I think the Wine and Wallop in Didsbury (lapwing lane)has an upstairs function room that isn't very big. They've just finished renovating the place so that might not be the case anymore but worth a look.

Sante on Burton road also has one. Probably a touch big for 10 though.

Seven Oaks has a function room and will let you bring in outside food.

Grub/Fairfield social club maybe? Otherwise maybe look at more local coffee shops/bakeries?

I thought Grub shut down :(

What’s the age group? All the same age or trying to cater for a range of age/family members?

I feel like out of town will have better options for smaller groups. I know a few options in Salford if that’s close to you.

Yeah a range of ages, I'd be up for somewhere in Salford if you have recommendations

Playfoots is a small bar and has an upstairs room they rent out if you put a tab behind the bar https://www.instagram.com/playfoots_cafe_bar?igsh=ZXVpbXM0d29jbGgz

It’s ideal for 10 people and I’ve had a few baby showers and mini engagement parties here. So a range of ages.

There’s a few bars and pubs within walking distance too if you did want to move on elsewhere after a few hours.

This pic shows the green room which accommodates 20 people. https://www.instagram.com/p/DCzZmTwNSM2/?igsh=MXNiNnE3NzQ0N3Jycw==

Good shout and most of the small bars (malt dog, Monton Tap) would also work on Monton road. Blacksticks has an upstairs hut may be a bit big

Hi. We had our son's 18th at Num6er in Sale on a Sunday recently. We had 45+ people and had the whole bar (upstairs and downstairs) so closed to the public. The downstairs is a nice space. Would imagine they'd request to have the upstairs bar open to the public with those numbers.

They have a sound system, there was no room charge and they were fine with us bringing our own food.

Have you tried Troff in NQ? They’ve got some smaller rooms upstairs they used to rent out, would be worth seeing if they still do

They would've been my first pick but it's only Sunday dinners :(

If you check the 'Packages' PDF on their private hire page, it looks like they do have a buffet option for £18pp.

They don't do the buffet on Sundays sadly, they said the kitchen is too busy

My nans front room could fit around 10. Shes a heavy smoker and owns an annoying yorskire terrier but she'll make you a brew and offer you one of them Nice biscuits. Want me to ask for you?

Sounds cosy af to be fair. How big must your nans house be that's impressive

Its a 3 bed semi with a knackered conservatory which is always too hot in summer and too cold in the winter so now she just uses it to dry her clothes

Could try Wine and Wallop Prestwich downstairs.

Back room of GULLIVERS on Oldham Street is very cute. £30 to hire. Is comfy for 10 people and you can plug into the sound using an aux cable

There are often pubs that have smaller rooms they might let you have for a small price - I know a few in Sale do. No idea on your own catering though - you'd have to ask about.

Hache in urmston have a small room. May not meet a lot of your criteria but it’s something to look at

Lass o Gowrie off Oxford Road have a "cinema room" that I've rented out for Dungeons and Dragons before

If i were you id try to find a pub or something that has a raised area or corner of a room you can ask to book out

Dedicated function rooms wouldnt be what id be looking for.

Try giving a few places a look and asking what can be done.

Most places will just offer a large table, though. Rooms are for 15-20 generally

I feel like House of Fu has a private room but I might be wrong? Do you like ramen?
