Discussion Did these two scenes functionally play the same role?
Two heroes forced to work together, who don’t really like each other at first, but will eventually be two of the biggest leaders and biggest characters in their respective “sagas”, referencing the future character development they’ll each go through?

Discussion Did James Gunn ever follow through on releasing more info on the Humanimals Con-lang?
For Guardians 3, James Gunn has talked about making a whole con-lang (constructed language) for the Humanimals on counter-earth. He talks a little more about it on the director's commentary, but I can't find more about it. Is there more info?

Hulk: Shang-Chi, She-Hulk, Brand New Day (rumored)
Wiccan: WandaVision, Multiverse of Madness, Agatha All Along

Discussion Wanda’s descend into villainy wasn’t that surprising in my opinion
Not to sound anti-Wanda, but I feel like a lot of audience members had kinda unrealistic expectations about her after WandaVision.
I mean, girlie was still robbing people of their autonomy (Agatha) even after Westview begged for death...
Sure, it’s easier to say in hindsight, but it was always messed up when you think about it.
And even after being betrayed and exploited by a close friend, she supposedly just isolated herself instead of booking herself into therapy.
Since when was Wanda somebody who could just will away trauma like that?

Discussion I'm blind watching all MCU movies and know nothing about them. I thought it'd be fun to share my ratings/thoughts of each one here! (In progress)
Hi everyone! I've never watched a Marvel movie (except Spiderman and Dr Strange), have no idea of anything about the universe, and have somehow managed to avoid spoilers my whole life?? My partner and I recently decided to start watching them and rating them as we go, just for fun. I thought it might be fun to share my ratings and hear other people's thoughts because I've just started and I'm already very invested in the universe! :)
Notes:
I've decided tomostlyfollow the narrative order fromthis post, and skip tv shows for now.As per first edit, I will be following release order, thanks to everyone who suggested this!- I've never read the comics or anything so when I say I'm going in blind, I'm going in blind. (So bear in mind that my ratings aren't based on how faithful the movie is to the comics, just how entertaining or interesting they were for me. They're also rated without having seen any of the subsequent movies.)
- I'd love to hear other people's thoughts about the ones I've watched and what I might have to look forward to, but please, no spoilers! I'm sure most people would have watched these movies, but I've marked any spoilers just in case.
- As getting through all of the movies will take a while, I'll update the post as we go, maybe after we finish each "phase" or maybe every week or so. We're aiming to watch one every 1-2 days.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edits:
- Edit 1 - 25/08/25: It seems to be the general consensus that I should be watching in release order instead of narrative order so going into phase 2, I’ll be doing that! Thanks for all the advice, everyone.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PHASE 1: (Completed 23/08/2025)
(1) Captain America - The First Avenger: 6.5/10
Thoughts: I generally enjoy war movies so the setting for this was interesting to me, but I found it a little slow at times. I knew absolutely nothing about Captain America - especially that he's actually from the 1940s - so it was very interesting to see his story. I enjoyed the action scenes and the plot was pretty good. I thought the final battle was quite anticlimatic though. I don't find Captain America that interesting as a superhero yet but I am looking forward to seeing him again adjusting to the present times. Overall, a good introduction to Captain America and an easy to follow story.
(2) Captain Marvel: 7.5/10
Thoughts: I was quite confused and overwhelmed when this one started. I kept thinking, "Am I supposed to know what that is or who that is or what's going on? Is this Earth in the far future or is this another planet?" I think this is because Captain America was pretty easy to follow and set on Earth in an obvious point in time i.e. WW2. (I can't remember why we watched this here - I think the list said you could watch it here or later. Looking back, maybe should have watched it later lol) But after she arrived on Earth, I began to really enjoy the movie. I really enjoyed Captain Marvel and Fury's relationship, I found it very sweet and wholesome. I thought it was a really fun movie and I was very entertained and invested in the characters and storyline. Also it was so awesome to see a female superhero and she is super cool and powerful. I wonder if we'll see her again because I hadn't heard of her at all so I'm not sure if she's in any other movies, but I hope so! The ending was really cute too, I wonder if we'll ever see the Skrulls find a home.
(2.5) The Incredible Hulk: N/A
Thoughts: I’m sorry I just couldn’t get into this one. We watched about 40 mins and I just had no interest so we turned it off. Sorry to any Hulk fans!
(3) Iron Man: 9/10
Thoughts: I thoroughly enjoyed this. I didn’t know much about Tony Stark (except that he was rich and arrogant and I didn’t like what I’d seen of him, which wasn’t much at all - he was in Spiderman for a few mins I think) but man, I really grew to like him. I loved seeing his evolution throughout the movie, and yes, he is rich and arrogant, but he's very likeable too. Iron Man as a superhero is very, very cool, and potentially will become a runner up for my second favourite superhero after Spiderman. The villain was pretty intimidating and I think the plot was interesting too. I equally enjoyed both the first half of the film of him in the cave and the second half of him refining the suit. I really liked Pepper too and her relationship with Tony seems sweet. A really enjoyable movie that I'm sure I will watch again.
(4) Iron Man 2: 6/10
Thoughts: It wasn't as good as the first by far but I was still entertained for the most part. I liked the storyline of him trying to fix his heart. I kind of wish that was more focused on, rather than the villain which was kind of the same thing from the first movie i.e. Iron Man fighting another Iron Man. To me, having not read any of the comics or known anything, the villian in this movie came a bit out of the blue. I kind of got the gist of it - his father worked with Tony's father or something? - but I didn't really care too much for him. (After the movie, I looked up the villian and he is apparently called Whiplash, which I don't think I heard him be called in the movie.) We also got to meet Black Widow in this movie, and I know she's super cool so I'm excited to see more of her.
(5) Thor: 7/10
Thoughts: I gave this a 7/10 because honestly it’s objectively a good movie that was entertaining throughout, but I don't have too much else to say. I wasn't really bored at any point, but I just don’t care for Thor as a character at the moment. I did however enjoy Loki, andI know he isn't dead because he has a TV series and I'm pretty sure he's in other movies so I am interested to see more of him, and of he and Thor's relationship.
(5) The Avengers: 9/10
Thoughts: This was defs the most exciting one yet! I loved seeing them all assemble and work as a team. I thought the beginning was just a little slow but I think that’s because I was just itching to see them all together. I enjoyed seeing Captain America again, but I wish there was a bit more about him adjusting to his new life. I already liked Tony from Iron Man but I really grew to like and respect him even more after this one too. Black Widow is a badass. Hawkeye is pretty cool too, I'm interested to hear more about he and Black Widow's past. I was really sad when Coulson died too, fml he was a cutie. I’m very excited to watch the next Avengers movie and see them all together again!

Discussion My dream Midnight Sons lineup
Punisher is the clear odd one out but I feel his philosophy alligns with a lot of the others. And he could definitely fill out that tactician role.

Discussion Did what if disappoint you. If so why?
I’m just gonna use captain Carter was an example. Peggy was my favorite character in the first avenger. But captain Carter feels much more like “what if captain America was a woman” than “what if Peggy Carter was the captain” peggy is way more hotheaded than Steve but more careful. I just personally didn’t like it. It didn’t feel like “what if [insert cool character] went through a different scenario]” my other complaint is as the show went on the changes got more and more specific

Discussion Day 6 - Xu Xialing. Predict her future...
With too many characters and the multiverse saga close to ending, I thought it'd be fun for us to predict the fates of each character, and discuss them as a person, what we think their end result will be and how it happens, etc.
Here are the 4 categories that sums up the possible routes:
- Fallen: They will die, and not make it to the next saga
- Legacy: They will survive and continue as prominent characters in future saga(s)
- Absent: We will never see them again, not in phase 6 or any future sagas (excluding very minor cameo's?)
- Retired: They will survive, but step away to live a 'peaceful' life, their superhero days are over.

Discussion I liked the Hulk/Black Widow romance, and the Loki/Sylvie romance, and the MCU would be better if they let them grow
With all the speculation about Loki being in Avengers recently, I can’t help but think how great an idea it was to have him fall in love, have it be with a version of himself, and for it to genuinely be sweet and change him. That needs to be revisited because they kind of tossed it aside in season 2.
I also just rewatched Avengers + Age of Ultron, and there’s more of a thread to the Hulk/Black Widow romance than I’d remembered. They were sweet together too! I think it was more the ‘Natasha’s a monster because she can’t have children’ angle that tainted opinion (rightly) than the actual romance

Discussion Why I skipped Agatha All Along and why you shouldn't
When Agatha All Along came out, I had a bit of MCU fatigue. Sure, Loki S2 was good, but Echo, Secret Invasion, and What If S2 had me tired of the MCU shows. So I skipped Agatha All Along. It was a show about a character I didn't care that much about, and it seemed inconsequential.
Flash forward to today, and I'm on an MCU kick after Thunderbolts, F4, and DD Born Again. So I decided to come back to Agatha All Along to see what I missed. And man I'm glad I came back
This show is really good. It's super fun, and has a surprising amount of heart for a show centered around a heartless wish. It's probably in my top 5 MCU shows now, and I can highly recommend it

Easter Egg/Detail TVA + Fantastic Four Design Similarities
Someone theorized that the TVA was created by Reed Richards and I can't unsee the design similarities now. If Reed created the TVA, it would make sense he'd model it after his own world. This can't be a coincidence that they look so similar right?

Interview Kumail Nanjiani reveals that he signed on to play Kingo in 6 MCU films and a video game. “You’re like, ‘Okay, so I'll be doing Marvel movies every year, and in between, I'll do my own little things’… None of that happened.”

Question After Endgame, you wanted Vision to return or to remain dead?
Vision is one of my favorite Avengers, so after Endgame, I kinda wanted him to come back (especially after Wandavision) as he is a really iconic Avenger in the comics, but on the other hand I've never been a fan of resurrections in movie franchises. What do you think is the best option and how woud you handle him returning? Would not having the stone change something in his powers?

Discussion Anyone else expect task master to rise from the dead and meet the thunderbolts in the middle in the movie?
I didn’t think she was actually dead. The whole time I was thinking they were going to bring her back somewhere in the movie and she was going to be a part of the team. Her death didn’t seem real until the movie was going to end and I was like oh yeah she really died.

Discussion HOT TAKE: I hope Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier uses the hover chair from Days of the Future Past's epilogue in Avengers: Doomsday rather than the one from Multiverse of Madness
I don’t dislike the hover chair from MoM, I think it worked for the Charles Xavier version from the 838 Illuminati, but I hope in Doomsday he has the hover chair from the epilogue of Days of the Future Past, as a way to not only differentiate, but also to connect more to the version we are used to from Patrick Stewart
