Hi guys!

Me and a couple of friends will be renting a house in the Kotor area for a week. We will be there for the first week of September to hopefully avoid the worst summer crowds.

What can you expect during the first week in September? Will it be packed of tourists everywhere? Is this still considered peak season?

It's still season and Kotor will be packed as it's packed most of the year, not as during july augusut but heavy traffic and tons of people

Thanks for the answer! Is the first week of September still considered a holiday week in the Balkans? I’m from Sweden and up in northern europe, all schools will have started which means families wont have their holiday then.

Perhaps it’s different in Montenegro and surrounding countries and therefore there are still a lot of tourists.

Not really but it doesn't matter, as tourists are from all over the world and mostly non-balka,n so they will be there, especially since Kotor is so small, so it's not hard to get it crowded

I consider the first 2 weeks of September still high season theres not a huge drop in visitors till late September, and even then kotor is cruise ship central

Unfortunately, yes. However, the sea remains warm, the beaches are less crowded, and I believe cable car tickets are more affordable in the post-season. If you decide to go, be sure to bring something warm, as the temperature difference at the top is quite noticeable. Also, check the weather forecast beforehand—if it's cloudy, the view might be completely obscured. In my opinion, the best time to go is at sunset; the view is absolutely stunning. Keep in mind that the city can still be busy due to cruise ships and day-trip visitors.

Btw, I am doing a little research about tourists who come with friends to Montenegro. Can you help?
