Hello all - I need some Herceg Novi help, please.

We've rented a villa there next week with a beautiful view and we can't wait. I've been to Podgorica a couple of times (one time I drove from Sofia - that was fun!) but never as far as this.

We're flying into Dubrovnik this Saturday - how long does the Karasovići border crossing usually take?

Is VOLI Hipermarket in/near HDL Novi Mall the biggest in the area? Is there anywhere closer to the centre of town?

We'll have takeaway pizza one night - is Caffe Pizzeria Boka a decent place? The thicker the pizza the better.....

We won't have data so when using Google Translate in supermarkets (Serbian isn't downloadable), will we get away with Croatian? I understand the relationship between the languages but I'm not sure this is best.

Thanks all!

-It depends on many factors, so it can be 5 minutes or 2 hours, but it's usually 20-30 minutes at this time of the year

-Voli and HDL are the biggest ones, but there are more Voli markets and Idea, and there are also City markets. They are all famous brands and similar.

  • Croatian or Bosnian, they should be enough, although some food things have different names, but 90% is the same.

I'm happy with "usually" - thank you. I've seen the live streams for both options - would you bother looking at those?

As far as I can tell, there is a VOLI Hipermarket near HDL Novi Mall - are groceries available in HDL as well? I've seen that there are many options, we just prefer the larger places.

Ok, thank you. We just want to make sure we cover most bases. It's ok if we don't understand everything.

Thanks for your help!

Those are tricky, as it depends on the day and time of day, also weather etc.

Yes, groceries are available in HDL, they have maybe 70% same products and 30% are exclusive brands for that market chain.

Most products have multiple language descriptions on the back, so you'll get by for sure

For pizza go with "Popaj". They're on the promenade, by the port.
