Événement Was curious about the country of last night's country. Needless to say I wasn't expecting this.

I was watching the final fireworks show thinking what country this could possibly be. There was too much internet traffic so I couldn't verify on the spot. I just remembered to check now and well I wasnt expecting a celebrity out of all things. This is kind of "pas rapport" in the grand scheme of things, had a chuckle though haha. Why taylor swift though?

The closing show is after the awards ceremony for the competing nations, so they have recently themed it as a "tribute" night:

That was the non-competing opening show in 2022. (This was preceded by a Je me souviens special show postponed from late 2021.)

There was also the Girl/Boy Bands opener last year (itself postponed from 2023 due to air quality) and Viva Latino this year.

La soirée finale, si je me trompe pas, c'est toujours une collaboration sur une thématique précise. C'est comme "hors compétition".

L'an passé le dernier c'était un hommage à Coldplay.

En 2023 c'était Metallica.

Starting last year there are five minutes of laser segments distributed through each show, to reduce the the amount of particulate smoke generated. You can't really see them unless you're in the stands at La Ronde, and if you are, they have the tendency to reflect off the lake and directly into the crowd's eyes.

The general consensus is that they are terrible.

Ive noticed it was really delayed especially last week during the France fireworks. i guess as another user reported, seems to be due to the smoke, makes sense I guess but when they go all out on the finales there's a shit ton of smoke anyway, like to the point its even hard to see haha
