That’s Anne Hathaway alright

9

I believe it's pronounced similar to Annapolis

Anne?

u/strattonmemes Jul 21 '25

Anne. You know, she sometimes takes a little pack of mayonnaise, and she’ll squirt it in her mouth all over, and then she’ll take an egg and kind of... Mmmm! She calls it a "mayonegg".

u/Uday23 Jul 21 '25

Oh hi egg I didn't know you were here

You let me in ...

89

u/BarackaFlockaFlame Jul 21 '25

the look on jason batemans face after george michael drops that bomb on him is in my top 5 reactions ever. it is just pure disgust without trying to let the disgust part take over his face. The look of shock just kills me.

her?

25

u/Alexandur Jul 21 '25

I love how that shot of his reaction is his caller ID photo on George Michael's phone in a much later episode (which of course makes no sense in universe)

15

u/Bing_Bong_the_Archer Jul 22 '25

Its plausible that Michael was in the position to make that expression at multiple points in his life

f&f was able to do it with cars repeatedly, why not hathaway do it with fashion?

The circling rumoured plotline of the sequel is that Emily and Miranda are head to head with Emily having her own company now, and Andy will cover the story of their rivalry as a journalist.

191

u/heysupmanbruh Jul 21 '25

Not awful tbh, but I fear the original was lightning in a bottle and is a fun comfy movie for its time

83

u/Red4pex Jul 21 '25

I’m a totally straight guy and it’s absolutely one of my top ten movies. I don’t know how they replicate its sarcasm and feel.

69

u/section111 Jul 21 '25

why is no one reaaaadyyyy

24

u/mochafiend Jul 21 '25

Forever one of the most brutal lines ever uttered onscreen.

80

u/finnjakefionnacake Jul 21 '25

You know there's nothing particularly "gay" about enjoying a movie with great actors and beautiful women and fashion lol. Movies are for everyone.

Probably more along of the lines she’s incredibly successful now and it gets to her head, reluctant to help Miranda because of how awful she was and she’s losing her pedigree, but then realizes everything she’s achieved has been because of her then helps her.

19

u/peppinotempation Jul 21 '25

I hate how this is probably the exact movie they’re gonna make lol

2 Devil 2 Prada.

The Devil STILL Wears Prada.

The Devil Wears Prada: Prada Never Sleeps.

Prada Fury Road.

Prada 2049.

The Priestly Ultimatum (Meryl Streep has amnesia, kills fashion designers).

Andrea Sachs and the Goblet of Fire.

51

u/TomBirkenstock Jul 21 '25

It seems like she has been working on smaller movies recently. In the last year, I saw her in both A Mother's Instinct and Eileen. She's excellent in both and they really showcase her range.

9

u/laamargachica Jul 21 '25

Saw the one with Jessica Chastain recently (A Mother’s Instinct). What a crazy film. Can’t believe these two Academy Award winning megastars just signed up for this story!

215

She was in plenty of movies then hit that classic Hollywood female age out point.

She’s had a steady stream of movies for decades lol

11

u/TheEmeraldRaven Jul 21 '25

I mean she's in a bunch of stuff, just unfortunately, a lot of flops since Interstellar in 2014 - The Witches, Alice Through the Looking Glass and many more.

But she's also been in some good stuff since, The Intern, Ocean's 8, Dark Waters, The Idea of You.

She also had a child in 2016 and 2019, so having super small kids like that, I can imagine thats another reason why she's mostly been doing smaller films instead of signing up for more mega-blockbusters.

Book 2: Revenge Wears Prada

Book 3: When Life Gives You Lululemons

Book 2 teaser summary:

Almost a decade has passed since Andy Sachs quit the job “a million girls would die for” working for Miranda Priestly at Runway magazine—a dream that turned out to be a nightmare. Andy and Emily, her former nemesis and co-assistant, have since joined forces to start a high end bridal magazine, The Plunge, which has quickly become required reading for the young and stylish. Now they get to call all the shots: Andy writes and travels to her heart’s content; Emily plans parties and secures advertising like a seasoned pro. Even better, Andy has met the love of her life. Max Harrison, scion of a storied media family, is confident, successful, and drop-dead gorgeous. Their wedding will be splashed across all the society pages as their friends and family gather to toast the glowing couple. Andy Sachs is on top of the world. But karma’s a bitch. The morning of her wedding, Andy can’t shake the past. And when she discovers a secret letter with crushing implications, her wedding-day jitters turn to cold dread. Andy realizes that nothing—not her husband, nor her beloved career—is as it seems. She never suspected that her efforts to build a bright new life would lead her back to the darkness she barely escaped ten years ago—and directly into the path of the devil herself...Featuring all new scenes with the villainess we love to hate (hate to love?), Miranda Priestly, Revenge Wears Prada in paperback is another publishing event!

3

Jesus christ can we please stop with sequels to things that have already had their run. Are todays directors so lazy and uncreative that theyre only capable of squeezing the juice out of pre-existing ideas from years ago just to make a newer, worse version of it

De Niro's done more than enough of "those" types of movies where you don't even need to list the most recent one to make your point

Movies aren’t made because people ask for them. This is such a weird argument against movies people don’t want to see. Not everything is made for everybody.

21

u/orTodd Jul 21 '25

I read an interview, I forget who it was with, where the interviewee said one of the problems with modern filmmaking is movies are made for audiences instead of movies being made for the sake of sharing a story or a piece of art and letting audiences find it.

13

u/Blooder91 Jul 21 '25

As Henry Ford said: “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.”

8

u/TheIngloriousBIG Jul 21 '25

It follows a trend we’ve had with “ten years later…” sequels we’ve had since Zombieland: Double Tap in 2019, approximately 10 years since its predecessor’s release.

I thought the point was to realize Andy was being tempted and to commit herself back to her values despite possibly having wasted a year interning at Runway. Why would she willingly come back to this?

Maybe she's a cameo and Emily is the actual protagonist this time.

3

u/claimsnthings Jul 21 '25

The book had a sequel and it was horrendous.

Cant wait for this sequel..  omg magazines? So 2006. Remember flip phones? Something something AI.  Tik tok tik tok.

9

u/VitaminTea Jul 21 '25

Which movies have you seen in theatre this year?

→ More replies (1)

9

u/ViperLFC10 Jul 21 '25

Sinners, F1, Black Bag, Freaky Tales, Novacaine, Mickey 17, Life of Chuck, Phoenician Scheme and many more this year alone. There are non sequels, they just aren’t being watched.

13

u/finnjakefionnacake Jul 21 '25

Probably because no one is going to the theaters to see actual original fare anymore. How many incredibly unique, acclaimed, well made films have gone to the box office in the last decade and seen very underwhelming numbers? Hint: it’s a lot

For better or worse, sequels and established IP are what mainstream audiences go to see.

14

u/Bman4k1 Jul 21 '25

That’s the big joke isn’t it? People complain about sequels but yet they don’t go see original movies. It’s the same as people complaining about chain restaurants “where are the hidden gems locally owned?”. Just walk down the street. People will then blame it on lack of marketing. That’s a you problem.

And then people will say “I’ll just watch it on streaming”. By the time it is on streaming it is bunched together with all the other slop and gets lost in the noise.
