Judy Greer plays the kidnapper, Emma Thompson plays the woman that helps.

Ooooo…evil Judy Greer.

Oh, I am 110% down for evil Judy Greer!

u/ClutchSuts 11d ago
She's SO evil in it. Genuinely unhinged and outright cruel. It's not something I'd ever seen her do before - even Carol/Cheryl Tunt has some humour to her madness

Is that a Fentanyl lollipop?

Honestly can’t think of another sucker that looks like that.
Amazing characterization… I already have so many specific questions about her and her motivations

What is a Fentanyl lollipop? Isn't Fentanyl like, super deadly in low doses?
17
u/AmishSatan 11d ago
The lollipop is an actual medical device with controlled dosage designed to be absorbed through mucous membranes in the mouth.

Good Emma Thompson versus bad Judy Greer is everything I never knew I always wanted

Honestly I would find the reverse constellation more intriguing.

I’d watch the shit out of either combination, let’s be real.
When John C Reilly and Philip Seymour Hoffman did True West on Broadway, they’d alternate characters on different nights. I guess that’s what I want from these two.

Holy shit that’s an amazing twist, my brain had already kinda filled in my expectations of Judy being the reluctant/unprepared hero here. It doesn’t know how to process “hardened criminal Judy Greer” lol

u/Sirtopofhat 11d ago
Was interested. Even more interested now I imagine they play off each other well

Judy Greer played a baddie in Cursed.
The movie was a train wreck (mostly due to studio interference) but she was fun in it.

As long as she isn't the main characters best friend, I am happy

The final twist will be a flashback scene where her and Emma Thompson were childhood best friends.

Or the consolation-prize love interest. When one of the male characters can't end up with the "traditionally hot" women he's interested in, he ends up with Judy.

I still haven't seen Jawbreaker.
I genuinely don't know when I started having a crush on her, but it isn't abating.
Might be preaching to the converted but her book is really good too.

As a Minnesotan who has spent time in Finland. There is a reason a lot of Finns settled in Northern Minnesota. They look nearly identical.

I don't think our state gives tax incentives..? Or if it is timing maybe there was not enough snow at the time.
23
u/APartyInMyPants 11d ago
I could definitely see either the lack of consistent snow … or the wild swing in temperatures which could make shooting in Minnesota a bit trickier. I did some googling, and it seems like the part of Finland they shot in, the temperature won’t swing as drastically, so you can get more predictable results with the weather.
15
u/crunchybumpkins 11d ago
Yeah, I can imagine planning to film an entire movie in the snow would get derailed if it happened to be one of those weird winters without much snow at the typical times. Finland makes sense.

Wtf. They make fentanyl lollipops now? Like... from a pharmacy? Or is it just another drug thing on the streets now?
And if it's from a pharmacy in order to help with addiction, then .. whatever happened to those patches?
14
u/i_made_mine_at_home 11d ago
Yeah, don't know much about it, but fentanyl lollipops are a real medical thing for pain management.
13
u/KCisTall 11d ago
They were used during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars for wounded soldiers. There's a famous photo of a DEVGRU member being cas evac'd with one in his mouth.
11
u/JHRChrist 11d ago
They’re also used for breakthrough pain in cancer patients, almost always already on hospice/palliative care
Extremely tolerant to opiates already, agonizing pain, so bam a med that absorbs through your mucosa instead of having to do an increase through your IV with a nurse present, or take a pill since you’re prob already insanely nauseous and/or having trouble swallowing. Just pop this in to your cheek and let it dissolve. Little risk of choking.
As always a great, merciful invention if used only for what it’s specifically prescribed for.

Based on this image, I highly question the casting of the young girl. She looks more like a bearded middle-aged man. That said, I'm open to creative and unconventional casting choices and I look forward to seeing how the actor interprets the character

I always found it funny how a lot of people in Minnesota trace their ancestry back to Sweden/Norway Scandinavia
It’s like their ancestors moved across the globe and found the same climate and were like “Fantastiskt!”
