Best American rock band of all time

This is obviously a subjective post. As post suggest “all time” so feel free to go back to to the 50’s and please consider that bands from this millennium may not hold up in a couple decades. Also genre blending bands welcome.

They have been my favourite US band since the mid 80s but I still have to give the crown to the Ramones due to their influence.

I like SY more than DLR-era Van Halen but I know the score and push that way... not as linear in influence as your choice but I totally get ya

Used to say they were my fave band starting at age 12 til sometime in my 30s... now I consider them in a 3 band carousel (with Thin Lizzy and Unwound).... and I say this as I'm about to open up Hold That Tiger on vinyl and hear it fixed at normal speed for the first time ever!

Very relevant side note: Sonic Youth's Sister is my fave album of all time for sure tho
